I did mean to leave a written review.. My husband granddaughter and I visited this lovely establishment on a trip from Canada I used to visit as a child some 60 years ago. The charm has not diminished over time, but the food has substantially improved - a delicious lunch. Staff were amazing and friendly and the first stop on our trip could not have started at a better location and venue. My granddaughter's first taste of british chips!! which she loved
Great pub with a varied and tasty menu. Fab service. The best vegan roast I've ever had. Been 3 times now the vegan roast is always perfect and there is a decent selection of vegan wines and an amazing dessert.
Front of house service was amazing. Welcoming lady greeted us, we were early so she suggested we get a drink and we sat in the garden which was lovely. We had a booth seat for four people. Service while at the table was good but a bit slow and some items missed of such as water for the table and cauliflower side. We noted this on the bill and they were happy to take it of so all good. I had the vegan Wellington which was very pleasant. My partner had a meat roast which he was underwhelmed by. The potatoes where not fluffy and dry I left most of mine. The vegetables sides were fine but very bland, needed some extra seasoning. Overall good parking + yummy drinks plus good non alcoholic options. Sadly won't be going back for a roast in a hurry. Vegetarian options: Vegan Wellington
Car meet on the second Sunday of every month: a whole range of interesting vehicles and friendly enthusiasts, accompanied by a tasty egg, bacon & sausage roll with a coffee in a pleasant setting. What is there not to like?
My second visit and it was just as good as the first. A lovely long boozy lunch with friends. Food exquisite. Ate from the Xmas menu and the turkey was delicious not dry at all. An amazing espresso martini too. A firm favourite.
Excellent Sunday Roast! Beef was delicious…. Very tender and pink in the middle. Huge Yorkshire and amazing cauliflower cheese. Pork belly was well seasoned and tasted delightful. Big portions and excellent service. Thanks for a great lunch. 5 stars well deserved!
I visited here with my sister and brother in law to meet up with my cousin and his partner. It's a very attractive pub with a good atmosphere. We were seated in a nice comfy booth which was great as it made it easier for me to hear as l am a bit deaf. My mushroom starter was delicious and my fish pie main was good. The service was good, we had to wait quite a while for our food to arrive but it was busy and we were chatting so it wasn't really a problem.
Lovely pub with roaring fire in the winter and a special menu around Christmas time. Recommend the steak and the chocolate mousse! Dog friendly. On our latest visit we were looked after by Sophie who was very attentive and friendly - thank you!
Haven't been here for a very long time, and it's changed, it's more an eating establishment rather than a pub. Very nice decor, lovely staff, shame I had only gone in for a hot chocolate after a walk and not a meal, but will definitely return for a meal. Just made a return trip, unfortunately only for a drink again, can you review your soft drink prices, had a large orange and lemonade which cost more than the large red wine!!!
Went to this pub last night with my wife, warmly welcomed and staff very attentive a little overly so for us. Starters were mussels and Risotto, mussels were flaky and did not seem fresh and sauce was very thin and way too much garlic, The fish in the risotto was nice but the rice was not cooked enough. Fish and chip mains was lovely but I had the roast hake, the fish itself was ok but the white bean mash was cold watery and tasteless except for a bitter aftertaste. Sorbet dessert was like a kids meal. Would have been good value if we had enjoyed the meal.
