It’s a good ground, the stadium itself is quite unique, and could definitely be considered a Premier League ground. Accessibility to the ground is fairly straight forward, parking in the ground is very limited. But there’s plenty of parking on Garrison Lane. However…… Leaving the ground has probably been my most painful ground leaving experience ever. In a car, it took me 45 minutes to leave Garrison Lane, on what I can only assume was a good day, as I’m sure the ground would be fuller on better days at the club. So to put it into context, it took me 45 minutes to travel half a mile. Painful. On approach to the ground it’s difficult to see how fantastic it actually looks. But as soon as you step in, you realise the calibre of the club, it’s an enjoyable stadium inside, and really felt good being there. Quick note: Don’t sit in the front 5 rows of the West Paddock seating area, I got soaked throughout the duration of the match. The roof doesn’t quite cover the entirety of the seating arrangement. I also wouldn’t consider sitting in the front three rows by the pitch, as there is a ground level difference between the pitch and the seats, so on the third row, your eyes are just above the football ground level, which doesn’t provide a brilliant spectator’s view. The higher the better for anyone who hasn’t been for this ground. The facilities were ok, there’s a bar called Bar 8 just inside the ground, your bog standard bar, early kick offs etc. Toilets were ok, but the gents sign had me chuckling - it’s clear they hate Villa. The food and drink stand was the most disappointing of it all besides leaving the stadium. It was card only, and 6 mere choices of hot food, it was really poor for a Championship football side. I’ve seen non-league sides do a million times better than the food service at this ground. The police presence wasn’t high, but they were about. I can imagine derby days would see a lot more pandas about. The mural on Tilton Road is a must see! Fantastic views of that, and the club shop is also excellent. The biggest shock of all was how flat the atmosphere was in this ground. They didn’t sing one song throughout the entirety of the match, and they won 2-0! I think this ground could be so much more, but I think it’s lost it’s touch with the supporters. It needs affordable upgrades, and some cheers, it could be a much happier place.
Argyle on tour!! 3rd round of the FA cup and 3k fans have descended on St Andrews. Good looking stadium but looking old and in need of some TLC!! And it doesn't help when the home fans don't turn up to support their team. The executive boxes have a strange looking roof over them.....almost like galvanised...very old fashioned. Infrastructure was good though...concourses clear good food outlets with passable queues....all very well organised but the covid pass checks were a complete joke. All the lower tiers apart from the away fans was cordoned off and didn't add to the overall ambience. They also played like a Championship club in trouble. Ah well. We won and out sang them from beginning to end.
Ive been here a couple off times now 3 sides off the ground look quite smart if the club at some point decide to develop the main stand it will make for an impressive stadium .An interesting fact the club was formed in 1875 as Small Heath Alliance. The club's first pitch was across the road from St Andrews in Arthur Street
Recent visit to this place made me decide to work here to loll Great atmosphere and huge venue .. great pies and curry dish .. gotto say loved my days here
Always enjoy my trips to St Andrews. Friendly club, nice atmosphere. It's probably needs a face-lift or a new stadium but that takes money and new investment. Right in the middle of Birmingham. Peaky blinders territory.
An old football ground. Came for an away game following Fulham. It was nice to see welcome posters up. At the end of the match there was a pitch invasion from the Birmingham supporters, they escaped relegation. As it turned out, they didn’t need the points anyway as other results went their way. Anyway... despite being advised to wear hard hats and expect bricks through the windows of our coach, I found the Birmingham lot actually friendly and the pitch invasion was peaceful and they came over and applauded us Fulham supporters. Strange moment, one I’ll remember.
Great Football Club, with Great Loyal Fans. The owners are Not very Good and have run the Stadium to the ground. Need to step up and repair the ground & spend money on quality players!
Visited Birmingham City Football Club with Fulham. It was a full house of 28000.. 3300 from Fulham so the atmosphere was electric. The Stadium is cracking. The noise from the Birmingham fans was incredible. The only thing that let the place down was the massive queues for food and beers. That was a nightmare. The stewards were excellent.. helpful and friendly. Birmingham's fans were a credit to their club and i wish them well for the future.
Had a fabulous afternoon at the blues on Saturday, with my family. Shame the result wasn't better for us.
Long awaited visit long walk to get to my seat but hey ho
