Me and my partner stayed at Bike and Boot from Friday 6th to Sunday 8th March for a belated birthday trip and I’d just like to give some feedback.nnWe were recommended this hotel from one of our friends, although we don’t have a dog we were more than happy to stay as we planned on it being somewhere to sleep as we were out for the day.nnOn arrival we were greeted and checked in, handed our parking permit and went up to our room. It was a lovely room however did seem a little on the small side. The view wasn’t the best opposite the Travelodge with bird poo all over the window we booked the loft suite which has a double bed and a single bed. Even though there was only 2 of us staying we would have expected the single bed to have been made as that is what we have paid for however there was no pillow or duvet.nnWe got back to our room on Friday night and as usual if we would go anywhere we would lock the door, however it didn’t lock. We went down to reception to inform someone who immediately came back to our room with us to check. The door wasn’t locking from the inside as it seemed the door had dropped and the lock wasn’t going in to the hole of the door frame. The staff member who came to check asked if we wanted to move rooms which was much appreciated however the door couldn’t be opened from the outside without a key card and we had already unpacked and got comfortable and was only there for 2 nights however that isn’t the point. The door lock makes people feel safe and even though we felt safe i didn’t pay nearly £200 for our door to not lock. The staff member said someone from maintenance would come and sort the door out in the morning Saturday 7thnnSaturday came and we woke up,went out for the day and came back to eat tea in the restaurant. My partner had mussels which he enjoyed and I had chicken Milanese which I wouldn’t pay £19 for again. We also had a starter and my partner had a pudding which we waited nearly 40 minutes for just for it to be dry £8 Sticky Toffee Pudding Throughout the whole time we were there we felt like we were being judged because we didn’t have a dog. We knew before we booked that it was a hotel with dogs however it is just a ‘dog friendly’ hotel. The bill came to £70 which we were shocked at. The food wasn’t worth that at all and the waiter seemed shocked when I asked for the £5 service charge to be taken off!nnAfter a walk and some arcades we retuned to our room at 10pm. We went to lock the door as we usually would and it hadn’t been fixed! We went to bed as we knew there was nothing that could be done. We weren’t moving rooms as we were leaving in the morning and maintenance weren’t going to come to fix it as it didn’t seem like a priority to them.nnBed was comfy but we didn’t sleep very well although it was through no fault of there’s. It was the seagulls that kept us awake. Possibly if we booked a room that wasn’t the loft suite we would have slept better.nnOverall the hotel was nice, but was a couple of things as mentioned above that made a birthday trip away a bit disappointing. I think if we were to stay in Scarborough again we would stay somewhere different.
Had a lovely stay at this very comfortable and cozy hotel. Really friendly staff. Nice food. Nice rooms with great showers. Also really thoughtful amenities such asnDoggie baths doggie drying. Bike storage, bike cleaning area and bike maintenance area.nThe hotel is in a great location for the south bay.
Lovely stay and we’ll definitely return. Super dog/cyclist/hiker friendly but you don’t need to be any of those things to enjoy your stay.nnReally nicely decorated and felt so cosy and welcoming. Lovely lounges to relax in with one having a lovely view of the sea. You can buy cocktails in the attached bar and enjoy them in the lounges. There’s free hot drinks and cake served at 4pm daily - such a fun touch.nnThey provided a little dog bed/blanket and a cute duck toy which our dog absolutely loved!nnWe booked the boot room so knew it would be small but it was fine for us, wife and I could move around ok, felt very cosy. There’s an iron and board, hairdryer, coffee machine and TV with chrome cast on.nnIn December we found parking outside very easy.
We stayed here again this weekend for the 3rd time this year. The views out of the hotel are stunning, the staff are friendly and very welcoming and it's a brilliant place to take our dog. There's not much parking out the front, but there's a lot of street parking nearby and there's also a multi-story car park round the corner. Our room was large, clean, really comfortable and relaxing. This visit we ate at the hotel for the first time and that was also excellent - the staff were great, the food awesome and we were made to feel really welcome. A wonderful hotel that is in a great location for town, beach and Spa access. I would highly recommend this place, especially if you're a dog owner.
The hotel stay fell well below the standard we expected. The entire building was uncomfortably hot, and our room was unbearable. Other guests complained too. Even with the radiator turned right down, we had to leave the window fully open in February. With gulls making a racket at 4am, it resulted in one of the worst nights’ sleep I’ve ever had.nnThe food and drink were also grossly overpriced for the quality provided. £20 for a burger and fries would be steep even if it were good, but the brioche bun was dry, the burger was overcooked, and the only topping was a small amount of cheese and a chutney. Tony portion of chip fries. My wife’s focaccia was equally disappointing and completely dried out. Breakfast was no better: bland scrambled eggs, beans, bacon, pre-made pancakes, a “boil your own egg” station, and poor coffee and again £20 per person. I don’t mind paying £20 for a burger or breakfast if it’s good. It wasn’t.nnWe raised our concerns at check-out, but the response was a brief, mediocre apology and a comment hoping our next stay would be better. Given the experience, there won’t be a next stay.nnGood points? £4 parking and some one the decoration was good. That’s it.nnWe left extremely dissatisfied, and the overall experience was far from what we expected when booking with your hotel.
