Biggleswade Station is served by Thameslink trains which go towards Peterborough and Horsham services are around every 20 to 30 minutes from here. This station has no ticket barriers and limited ticket office opening hours there is no disabled access only stairs to the platforms. The station is currently going through a upgrade and should be getting lifts soon there are four platforms here with high speed trains passing through here. There was no staff when I came here the station was clean and tidy and outside the station was a taxi rank and local bus stop.
Easy access rail station. However no disable access. Good space for park your car. Daily charges for car park is reasonable. Plenty of stands for cycles. I have never seen ticket office with staff, however ticket machine would do the job. More parking space and more ticket machine would be beneficial. They need to make it disabled people friendly station. What baffles me that I have seen disabled spaces for car park but surprisingly station doesn’t have disabled access.
Make sure you’ve got the car parking app before you travel. We arrived and downloaded on the day, only to find there’s an error with the app. The person at the ticket office explained that it’s my problem what a nice person and there’s nothing they could do. Understandable, but the horrible attitude was not needed.
Neglected station which doesn't even have any working litter bins on the platforms. Some of the stair bridge structure is corroded and in need of repair and weather protection. Platforms 3 and 4 have these awful seats which are designed so that no one wants or is able to sit on them. The ticket office was closed at 3.23 when I arrived and there was no staff at the station, so I had to use one of the two ticket machines. It must be nice being able to work such short hours. The only good thing about this service is that the train arrived on time and the cost of a ticket 40 miles to Peterborough was only £9.10 single off peak.
The friendliness of the staff is the only reason I'm rating this 3 stars, otherwise, it's a 2 star station. The facilities provided leave alot to be desired and the station has no form of step free access whatsoever.nnThere's nothing of value on the Peterborough bound platforms and there are no longer frequent trains to London Kings Cross. Both platforms have shelter and seating though the platforms towards London have a small shop and waiting rooms during staffing hours. A ticket office, ticket machines and car park are alll located at street level.
