Nice cafe in a great park. Service and cleanliness are always good, food is nice and reasonably priced. Not the trendiest of cafes, but always consistent.
Can't explain our disappointment when it closed at 3pm today, Saturday 11.9.21 Sun was shining, plenty people heading there after walking the magnificent park. We reached the Cafe by 3:10 Every cafe we know usually closes 4pm Would be interesting to know the reason for early closure? We found a mobile servery next to the Lake. Large Lux hot choc & large Tea, 4 great Donuts £10. Drinks hot & delicious as have tasted bad tea Friendly, efficient service. Sat around the relaxing Rose Garden on comfortable seating in full sunshine.
Very poor experience, I asked if they had any vegan milks available and they almost laughed to my face and said simply "no" with no further explanations. Can you imagine someone trying to go to a cafe with lactose intolerance and being laughed at for asking for alternative milk options for their cuppa? The waiter that attended me should be suspended for discrimination. It's also unbelievable in this time and age that a cafe does not offer alternative milks. You should be ashamed of yourselves!
Visited today with 2 kids, we look forward to have some lunch in the park as the weather was great. Unfortunately not very pleasent experience, very poor costumer service. Everything we ask was a problem and the attitude was very grumpy. They where closing at 3pm, we where served at 2.20pm but you could already feel like they don't care about customers and want to close ASAP. Almost nothing left on the menu, no paninis or toasties they had only sandwiches in bun left, when I ask if they can toast my sandwiches I was told you can't toast them buns for real?? The soup of the day was nice, but once again when I ask 20min before they closed if I can get one more soup for my doughter, they said kitchen is already closed When I said it will take 2min in microwave to heat it up, they stated without even checking with kitchen there is no soup left If you close kitchen at 2.30 you should make this clear to customers, don't say you are open till 3 but you don't want to serve people. Generally I would send full front team for Customer service training could be very beneficial for them
We've visited many times since it opened . It's very popular weekends and holidays. Coffee is nice . The floor is some sort of stone and when it's busy the noise reverberates as dies the scraping of the chairs. No dogs allowed which is a shame as in the winter there's not too many people about and it's too cold outside. I'd emailed the council to ask but due to health and safety and children there, dogs not allowed. A few tables set aside maybe ? Many places are dog friendly these days , why not the tearoom in the Towers .
Busy takeaway service offered during lockdown, and we thought that a long queue was an indication that drinks would be good. Tea was fine hard to get that wrong but three expensive lattes were the most disgusting coffees that we have ever tasted. Looked like dishwater and taste was horrible. If we hadn’t restarted our walk before drinking, and if there wasn’t such a big queue, they would have been returned. Maybe we were unlucky, but won’t be returning just in case.
Nice place to get some nice food, although very expensive! A bacon sandwich with 2 rashers of bacon and a hot chocolate was over £6!! Yet I can get the same from Greggs for £2 with 3 rashers of bacon in sandwich! The staff are lovely and the views from inside are nice but much better from outside seats. There are a few seats and tables and can easily be busy in weekends and holidays where there is nowhere to sit. They do offer food to be taken away so can take it and eat on grass in park. On hot days be prepared for cold drinks and ice creams to sell out very quickly
Never been so disgusted in the way a member of staff spoke to my 5 year old granddaughter for sitting on a chair very rude and abrupt needless to say I put my stuff back and if it's your son that works there I hope your really proud of him
Great for a light refreshment when walking around Saltwell park. Great modern indoor seating area. Excellent outdoor area overlooking the park. Good coffee, although only one size available and is quite small.
Visited today with the kids absolutely disgusted at the 'apparent' managers attitude! Was told only tuna sandwiches left and they were closing in 10 minutes and everybody had to be out! Wanted to get the lunch box but was told no ham or cheese and was not offered to pay for just what's in the box! When I said the website said they were open til 4 her attitude got worse and began arguing with me that it was the park not them! She then said what do u want!? This is not the first time iv encounterd her attitude the last time was when I was rudely told to put my sons scooter under the stairs outside the cafe! I was unaware of this at the time but the way she spoke to me on that occasion was also sharp and rude! I'm not normally one to complain or write reviews but I think it's inexcusable to speak to customers this way! Both times I was friendly with her until I was greeted with such attitude! This is not what I would expect from a manager! I also manage people in my day to day job and if I spoke to my customers in that tone I'd be sacked! She clearly isn't in the right job and needs to address her manner! Yet again not a good visit to your cafe
