Not best please to say the least. Drove 40 minutes to get to the shop in clacton to find it was closed. Then tried to call them as it says its open till 4 but the phone number does jot exist. Then tried to phone colchester store to ask if they still have a clacton branch, but had a lovely convocation with the answerphone instead. I want my fuel money back!
Great place. I knew nothing about fish keeping and just fancied the idea. Went into the clacton store with a million questions and the girl Becs who works there was brilliant. Spent ages with me telling me what I needed to know and kept helping me through the awful new tank syndrome I had. Great customer service so I'll keep going back for my new hobby/obsession
This place is great for all your fish and reptile needs. They have a large range of products and even live animals that you can see and buy. Most things are well priced and compete with other retailers. Would definitely recommend a visit.
Went in today with our young boy to choose some more fish and buy some supplies for our tank, staff were extremely unhelpful, said they didn’t stock something that we could see on the shelf in front of them, was being urged out of the shop at 16:45 so decided to go elsewhere. Having bought reptiles from there in the last with lovely service I was very disappointed with how we were treated today, we won’t be returning, would rather drive to Colchester.
Bought 8 female guppies from here as all our females were pregnant and our males still wouldn’t leave them alone. Firstly were only given 7, but didn’t realise until we got them home, and after 2 days one of them died, then within a week 3 more died, and now 2 weeks on my other fish have started dying and I’m trying to find out what disease they have introduced to my tank before we loose all of them. I am furious and will never buy anything from them ever again. Update- do not buy their diseased fish, our 6 year old placco is now dying, after surviving 2 house moves and a tank change their diseased fish have infected him and we are furious with “worst aquatics”.
When I moved to Clacton I was happy to see a fair few aquatic stores and looked at this one as a good large retailer...That was until I saw a few deceased fish in various tanks.Told the staff and they removed them. Now I can't checkout all of their tanks without seeing dead or dying fish in a fair few of them. 10-20 times a year I have a look around and never left there without seeing this same scene every time. I understand in this trade you will lose a few fish along the way but the amount of fish they must lose in a year appears to be ridiculous. With more care for their fish this could be a great store but for the past couple of years it is disappointing to have my children embarrassingly point out a dead fish time and time again.
Wish the animals had better care, they looked a bit sad, could do with more enrichment and hides. But the younger man there seemed to have an interest and had a chat with me and my friend. The prices are pretty great and usually get some interesting finds in there, so definitely not the worst place!
Visited Betta Aquatics for the first time today and was very happy with the service I received. The person I spoke to was very knowledgeable and gave me some good advice about fish tank plants. Will definitely visit again.
Unhelpful and unfriendly staff with an attitude. We have been to the shop today to buy a pond connector. The gentleman who was working there as staff was not very helpful and can't be bothered attitude. Everything we asked he just said "no" to, without even looking. We won't come anymore. He was really rude and disgusting.
Staff laid back but helpful. However, often see dead fish. When I took my brother there he was shocked how the fish looked distressed or dying comparing it to his local aquatic centre. I've also lost several fish which may or may not be their fault.
