I was really excited to try this Indian restaurant that had such good reviews online. But my experience there was a total disappointment. The atmosphere seemed like it was trying too hard to be fancy and appeal to tourists, and it felt like the focus was more on how the place looked than the actual food. The curry dishes we ordered were bland and didn't have much flavour. The tandoori king prawns, which are usually one of my favourite things to get at Indian restaurants, were overcooked and rubbery. Yuck. The only decent part of the meal was the sauces, which were actually pretty good. But overall, I was disappointed by this restaurant. It's a bummer because Indian food can be so amazing, and this place has the potential to be really good. But they didn't deliver on the quality of the food, which is the most important thing to me when I'm eating out. There are definitely better Indian restaurants in the area that put more effort into their dishes.
Trip advisor indicated this was a place for great food. The Madras was no different to my first ever Madras that made my pee sting and gave me ring sting and a Delhi belly next day. If you are into nostalgic this is the place, if you have however become a discerning customer who appreciates the subtle layers of flavours and delicate spices avoid at all costs.
Forgot to take a picture before I started eating. I had chicken momo not pictured was delicious. I also had a lamb version of tiki masala with mushroom rice. It was delicious min sure you can’t go wrong there.
Yikes! How does this have 5 stars? I ordered the lamb saag and it was 1/3 drenched in oil, and the oil wasn’t even spicy! How is it advertised as spicy saag when it is not spicy? Also the Saag dish was majority tomatoe and onions and the spinach didn’t taste like spinach more like collard greens. Cheap! The special rice was advertised with a photo of cumin seeds. I had 0 cumin seeds and tasted like Chinese fried rice! This place is a dud!!
Fabulous food this evening and excellent service with really attentive and friendly staff. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal and would highly recommendFood: 5/5
We had the best time there for dinner. The food was absolutely delicious, the best curry I had in London. The service was fantastic. Monz was phenomenal, kind and friendly, and helped us plan a surprise birthday cake. It was the perfect birthday family dinner. We recommend ordering a variety of curries and dishes and sharing, with Cobra beer
We had a wonderful time at Bengal Village! The service was impeccable and the staff always went the extra mile to ensure our stay was nothing but pleasant. The beauty of the surroundings was without a doubt breathtaking, and all the facilities were top-notch. We highly recommend Bengal Village for anyone looking for a luxurious and peaceful escape.
Bengal Village is an absolutely incredible restaurant. I thought I knew what good indian food was, but I was wrong. I ordered the tawa lamb, which had a wonderful smoky flavor and char while being incredibly tender. The sauce with the lamb combined with the rice was an amazing combo. I also ordered the chicken momo, which while not as good as the tawa lamb, was tasty as well. Highly recommend anyone come here for tasty food with wonderful service. Listen to the server’s recommendations! ^o^. Unfortunately my phone’s camera quality does not do the food justice
Very warm welcome, however the waiter that took our food order seemed very agitated when we weren't ready to order and a little bit cross. The rest of the staff were lovely. The food was ok however I was a little bit disappointed as I had heard that you get the best curry ever in Brick Lane! The bhajees were very dry. The curries were fairly tasty and we loved the pilau rice and the onion chutney. We enjoyed the experience and the ambience in the restaurant. Lastly it said that to get 25% off the food we had to have a starter which we were unaware of.
I'm here on holiday, and I'm going to cry when I leave because I can't get the food that I had tonight. Staff is awesome. When I come back to town, I'll be back. Thanks my friends. Next time, vindaloo. Really though the food is amazing, I have eaten a lot of Indian dishes in NYC and this was great. Thanks for the great dishes.
