We were visiting Uttoxeter where we found this wonderful eatery. The food was fresh and absolutely outstanding. The staff were incredibly friendly, polite and helpful. I would highly recommend this establishment. A big thank you to Hannah who was particularly kind and charming. Also a personal thank you to Luke.
Been to the Bear cafe just for coffees but this time we had breakfast. It was very nice but quite expensive £11 each. The staff were more concerned about putting a reserved sign on our table than asking how our food was . I went to the toilet and no toilet paper in the toilets so I told staff. The toilets were clean. The coffee was delicious. Cakes looked nice . For a breakfast and a coffee each it cost £28. Would I go back to this Bear cafe . Maybe but other coffee shops in this area just as nice and cheaper.
Very busy. Food was fine but portions small for the price. Staff were ok but nothing special. We had a 'table reserve ' sign on our table before our food arrived.. that's how busy it was. Customers were turning away as no tables available.Food: 4/5
We prefer the area to the front of the cafe as there are big windows. Families seem to enjoy the tables at the back . Quick efficient service . Great coffees and cake. Relaxed vibe .
At this morning's parkrun BEAR was recommended by several runners. It is clearly a popular place and was busy which may explain but not excuse. Service was efficient and my order arrived within a reasonable time. After the big buildup I was disappointed. This breakfast was £13.90. I know that quantity should be second to quality but I shouldn't be thinking about lunch ten minutes after late breakfast. So I'm saying close-but-no-cigar: That's a "long black" coffee, poached egg had a set yolk, I'd have appreciated everything being a little warmer, thicker sourdough slices please, spreadable butter at room temperature in a pot not a chilled and solid pre-wrapped slab and a larger portion of shakshuka and then this would be 5-star.
Food is high quality and oftentimes good however I do think it is overpriced for what you get in comparison to other local tea rooms and coffee shops. Maple bacon pancakes are awesome btw.Food: 4/5
Bear has a great range of tasty cakes and it's food menu is full of delicious options. The coffee is lovely and the staff are always friendly and happy to help you find something to suit your requirements. My favourite thing is when they stay open in the evening and you can enjoy beer, wine, and cocktails from inside the industrial looking cafe/bar. A great local business, owned by local people, i'm a big fan of supporting Bear!
Am a bit of a regular here nowadays, personally I think it's pricey but in all fairness the food is good, the surroundings are great and it does feel like 'an event', you ARE somewhere. The staff are kind and long lasting and everyone talks about how good the manager is with them and they've opened upany branches since. I was cynical at first but yeah. I like Bear.
The Bear is great place to meet friends over a decent cup of coffee. I can highly recommend the breakfast service. Food is well cooked from a thoughtful and varied menu. The Uttoxeter location is one of three I've visited the other two are in Derby. Staff are friendly in all three locations, but the Derby, Irongate restaurant, perhaps, has the edge. The Bear is worth a visit wherever located.
Excellent coffee plus delicious smashed peas avocado and poached eggs on sourdough toast . Such professional, swift, friend staff and service in a really smart comfortable cafe/ restaurant. Some very interesting tasty new ideas on the menu too Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp into the building cafe all on one level including access to disabled toilets. Seating set-ups that allow chair user to sit with friends.
