Stopped in to meet a friend and have a chat and coffee, friendly and accommodating staff. Coffee came with a biscuit, I love it when a business does this kind of little extra. Chatted that much, that we decided to have an impromptu lunch, which was delicious. Good value for money, too. Would recommend.Food: 5/5
One of the best Italian restaurants in Glasgow! Fantastic food and quick service. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Great selection of desserts too. Booking is highly recommended as it gets really busy. Top quality ingredients. Reasonably priced. Will definitely be back.
Had a meal courtesy of the staff for carrying out their boiler replacement. Spaghetti and meatballs absolutely fantastic, chefs and front of house couldn’t be any more kind. The kind and friendly owner definitely has a great team behind him, won’t be long in coming back Food: 5/5
Putting restaurants in old tram depots before that was a thing. Honestly this is my favourite restaurant in the world. Always delivers, and the people who run this place are so sound. Great food, great wine, great everything.Food: 5/5
Was recommended to this place by a friend who lives locally - we were astounded What a fantastic quirky place situated just 10 mins walk from our hotel via the park. We were advised to book and glad we did- excellent service from v friendly staff and what a menu. 2 courses at £22 or 3 for slightly more. I had the crab bisque which seemed to be served in an individual tureen- fantastic flavours served with crusty bread Then the crab linguine Wow Fantastic portion which I only just managed to finish- definitely no room for pudding All 3 of us were full - the ladies unable to finish their main course The meal was accompanied by a v nice Chianti The whole evening was perfect and the staff in no hurry - or so it seemed - to get us to leave This was on a “ school night” but apparently did not affect the clientele as most tables were occupied from 6pm onwards We are definitely going to book again the next time we’re in Glasgow This is definitely a hidden gem for those visitors new to the area
My favourite restaurant in Glasgow! Always a wonderful choice of specials. Halibut in a saffron, coconut & coriander sauce with king prawns was amazing! Thank you for a lovely evening.Food: 5/5
The Battlefield Rest is one of those culinary institutions in the Southside that you just have to cherish and hope that they will never disappear. Usually, I start a restaurant review with a few words about the food. But here, I will make an exception, as the building an Edwardian former tram resting place and it's uber-cozy interior are one of the main reasons I love coming back again and again. The restaurant is usually well-frequented typically by locals and regulars but never gets too noisy. It's this unpretentious, friendly and warm feeling this room radiates that make it so special. Now to the food: Again, if you are looking for honest, unpretentious Italian food with a Scottish twist here and there, then you will be fully satisfied. I have never ordered the same thing twice. Not because I ever was unhappy with my food quite the contrary! but because the menu has so many mouth-watering options to offer. No matter what I ordered, I have always been very happy. The portion sizes are generous and the staff is super friendly.
Atmosphere and service is great. Very limited menu for vegetarians and so not offer halal food. The pizza was nice but the pasta was very watery.Food: 3/5
Excellent! Came for dinner with my girlfriend. Luckily we booked because it was rammed. Situated in a charming building a bit off the beaten track. Prices were reasonable, service was faultless, and the food and wine were superb. Very pleased with the menu and the whole experience. Great interior decor too.Food: 5/5
Been a visitor to this restaurant for over 20 years. This place was one of my extra special go to places, but tonight's experience didn't hit the mark. Service was inattentive, and we had to ask to get our table cleared. At no point did anyone ask if we would like another drink or how the food was. Food is normally bang on, but tonight's lack a bit of seasoning, and we couldn't catch a waiter to ask for some salt. Sorry not my greatest visit.
