Argyle on tour ! Another stadium only been once before . Only passed fit to play after a 10am inspection on the day of the match.....most supporters were already on their way....all on a wing and a prayer!! Really big away end with a great view. Expansive concourse with a good choice of food and drink. Stewards all friendly. Home support was quiet. They only average 12,500 average attendance. And they don't really get behind their team. Their ground is too big for them! We took 1500 and sang our hearts out. Unfortunately, to no avail. Took the 1st half and should have gone 1 up in 2nd half...but then we capitulated and lost 3 nil.....ah well....Nice pint...or 2 in the Dove Inn. Let's get back home to sunny Devon...and the sea.
Fellow Yorkshire girl..Nice while passing by.. Kids enjoyed it.. Did a run around the car park.. So much space.
The result was great. Nice to go to an older stadium. Took ages to get served at the bar, too. Everyone seemed pleasant, though. Train station does not sell beer and they shut the bridge for no good reason!!
Lovely ground, nice pitch, good experience overall
Nice ground but nothing near by that I saw, stewards are lovely.
On Saturday 11/03/2023, I visited Barnsley Football Club for the Barnsley v Plymouth football match, with my young brother, Tyler. We arrived via car and parked in the car park which is situated adjacent to the South Stand. We joined the queue to the gates of C.K Beckett, which was quite long but moving quickly. My brother was stood by my side. The next time I looked down, he had disappeared. My heart sank and I began trembling, fear and dread flooded my body. I discarded my place in the queue and began looking for him expeditiously. I noticed a young man stood near the gates with a Barnsley F.C Uniform. I approached him for help. He instantly recognised that something was wrong, and I told him what had happened. He told me his name was Rhys Davies and that he was working voluntarily for the club as part of his University Course, but reassured me that he would help me. He asked me my full name, my brothers name, and how I had travelled to the football club so he could pass on the information and begin a search. He told me to remain calm and that we would find him. I told him my brother was a very sensible 5 year old and would go to a safe place. I went off to the burger van located at the end of the car park as we know the owners of the van, but he was not there. When I returned, Rhys had retrieved my brother and had found him at my car. I was very impressed with how Rhys handled the situation and how personable and approachable he was, he was very professional and acted calmly under pressure, which gave me so much fortitude. And before even the security and other FC personnel were gathered together, I had found my brother thanks to Rhys. He is a credit to the team, and I wanted to show gratitude for his heroic nature and his methodical approach having been ladened with an unexpected problem.
Made one of my all too infrequent visits to watch my home town team play. Took 2 grown up sons. Very easy to book tickets znd they arrived by post in plenty of time. Had great seats with views of the whole ground. Stewards on duty in our area we're easily identifiable, smart and friendly. Got into ground early so had no problems getting a drink from a kiosk in the East stand. Again, staff friendly. We won 2-0 so apart fromthe long walk back into town, which my dodgy hip struggles with, it was a great day out. Will be going again. COYR!
A lovely historic stadium. Stewards went above and beyond to get a chair for a good friend of mine so he could sit next to his wife at the game. Thank you Barnsley Football club for your kindness.
Hurts as we got beat yesterday but to be honest, grest stadium. Stewards and staff were good. Friendly and helpful
A Brilliant football club. Fantastic stadium, great set of devoted fans, well worth a visit
