Barclays Bank

Onky 2 cashier windows. Very automated paying in, but helpful staff on hand to help. Can get rather busy at lunchtimes.

So far, so poor. Trying to open a Community Account; proving difficult. Might have to stay with the existing bank which, although it charges each month, it does answer the phone instantly with NO MENU and the person who answers sorts out the query themselves: it is fantastic, proper old fashioned SERVICE (UNITY TRUST by the way) So far, Barclays Penzance has turned away a signatory who had taken in ID as they didn't know their account no....(cos we don't have one yet)and told another signatory that he would have to link this Community Account with his personal account (WHAT?) . Tried to phone the bank, got through to the generic number, got past numerous menus and then got an employee who has NEVER HEARD of Penzance and can't spell it either. Why are such people employed in this kind of job, astonishing and makes you wonder how she got through 11 years of education. Apparently, in order to speak to anyone at the branch she now has to email the branch and it will contact me, no idea when, I'l probably be out and then will presumably have to go through this malarky tomorrow all over again! My time is taxpayers money! What is going on??
