On Saturday 3rd Feb I attended Barclays cheltenham to see if I could seek help to setting up / transferring my business app across to my new phone. I was greeted with a lovely smile from Ami. Ami was an absolute angel and did everything requested. So nice to have such a great person to be working at Barclays
Closed local branch. Now need a round trip of an hour and 10 minutes in travel, £5 to park, then anywhere between 15-30 minutes waiting in line. Barclays gross profit for the quarter ending September 30, 2023 was $7.922B, a 13.02% increase year-over-year. Barclays gross profit for the twelve months ending September 30, 2023 was $31.304B, a 0.73% increase year-over-year. Barclays annual gross profit for 2022 was $30.868B, a 2.31% increase from 2021.
This is possibly the worst branch of Barclays in the country! We used to have the Manor Park branch which was brilliant.......the increase in automation and lack of human contact simply does not work...we can do a lot more remotely now, but when you visit the branch its because you need service from a member of the team. To make it worse, with just one branch in the Cheltenham... it closes at 3pm!........no counter service on a Saturday......its existence is actually questionable - sorry!
Had to go to Barclays Bank in Cheltenham yesterday to pay in some cheques having tried for over an hour to do so on line without success. Awful system. While waiting I was very disappointed to hear how an old lady was dealt with by the bank employee. Didn’t hear what her issue was but she did not know what an app was, didn’t have a computer or i Pad or a smart phone. Instead of treating the lady as you would hope as clearly she needed help she was told to go home and telephone for an appointment. There will be more older people who are in a similar situation so I was disgusted that she was not dealt with in an understanding way. One has to assume Barclays are not providing training for front office staff to deal correctly with this type of situation but are quite happy to reduce staff, reduce branches and automate much of the banking processes. I expect better of Barclays.
This branch used to be very good but now the counter service has been cut back to 2pm closing, no good to those of us who aren't within a short distance during the working day. Even if you can endure the long queues to the counter there's no guarantee the staff will know what they're doing. My last three visits here have all ended up with their staff messing up, necessitating further visits to sort out issues of their making. All in all, pathetic.
I've experienced all of the UK banks and this one is the most misleading and arrogant of them all.
Just for a change I thought I'd call in here to pay my credit card rather than do it through a bank payment. There were two people at the counter and two more waiting. The place was looking good for a quick 'in & out' visit so I joined the queue. After the first 5 minutes I began wondering what the delay was. A couple of minute's later I started wondering why this place operated like a lot of other banks by having 5 counter places with only two of them open. I noticed they had the obligatory girl hovering and asking people if they wanted to use the cash-point machine to avoid waiting in the queue. It took at least 15 minutes before I made it to a counter. My point is that it seems all banks seem to be using the same tactics on their customers. Give a really bad service at the counters by keeping us waiting rather than getting another staff member to open a new space, then hassle people to avoid contact with anyone and use the ATM. I understand that this is the modern world but think about it. We give the banks our money to invest and make the bank richer. In return we might get a glorified notepad that they call a cheque book. They then charge us for the privilege of giving them our money. If that's not bad enough, we are then encouraged to use the machine in the bank and assure the bank they can save more money by laying off the staff as they are becoming unnecessary. So if you fancy using the counter service here be prepared for a wait. Until people give up on the rubbish service- and the branch can close, the place will probably stay the same. I'm not saying this place is worse than others, it is just another example of banks treating their customers as the inconvenient part of making billions with their money and giving very little [if anything] back. Pah! There's gratitude for you.
Counter service abysmal! 2 staff only and several times that I have been one cashier had customer for 40 minutes. Really frustrated when got to till that unable to dispense change as person who issued the cash had gone to lunch!! at 11.30 am. asked to return later !As you have to use counter service for change you have no choice went again today only to find counter service finishes at 2pm.having tried to get change yesterday due to very large queue so unable to wait. Would really help if there were more cashiers after all there were at least 3 people by ATM’s one surely could help out if queues are long. Very disappointed have been customer for 40 + years and expect a better service from a high street bank.
Never been to a worse bank branch in my life. Rude, condescending and uncaring. Try seeing someone....I dare you
Friendly, helpful staff. The missing star is due to Barclays PLC policies/systems that prevented me doing what I needed without having to travel in to a branch.
