Went into branch to pay a large sum to a customer from a business account as i'm restricted to £100k max a day. Waited in line for over an hour to wait to be assisted. Once seen made to wait further as 3 different people needed to sign off the large payment. Finally left with payment receipt in hand to find the next day they haven't bothered to make the payment. Called to complain as it is a time critical payment with financial penalties if not completed, only to be held on hold for 1hr 45mins and basically told that there is nothing that can be done and I have to go back to branch. No apology, no understanding. Absolute shambles of a bank. Also told ill need to wait 8 weeks for someone to investigate my complaint. What a joke. My advise if you are reading this, is to remove your business from them immediately. This is not the first time experience, I could go on as there is much more, holding deposits in a holding account and not telling us for 5 months, thinking they had been sent to suppliers. The list goes on. Responding to reply dated 26th Feb 24 - Still no further on, being told that a complaint is all I can do. Great lets do that! Oh by the way it can take up to 8 weeks to assign a manager to look at the complaint. In the meantime there is nothing that can be done about the CHAPS payment made last week. WTAF! nearly half a million pounds arranged in branch to be transferred by CHAPs and no explanation as to why that has not been done! Why? This is a business account. Unbelievable. over 18 hours now spent on the phone, passed from complaints team to international payments who then say its a domestic payment so not them, then onto payments team who say its beyond there payscale. Back to complaints we go! 8 F*&£ing weeks. NOT HAPPENING.
Every time I have gone there, I always got/did what I went for. I use online banking for everything and I only use the branch if I need to put physical money in my account or cash in a cheque. I love the machines they have there where you can cash in a cheque or put cash in your account.
Laugh of a bank. Expensive with one branch for a city with population of 250000. And they only work for 5 hours. My wife needs to change name on her account. This is banks requirement to come to the branch with relevant documents. But at the same time the bank does everything to deter us from coming. The X - platform based customer service will not help no matter what. And your silly hours mean I have to take a whole day off and will cost me my daily wage
Pathetic, defensive, and unhelpful bunch of idiots. This is coming from a me - person who hasn’t been a customer ever at Barclays. I came in to help my elderly mother to help her transfer money as she doesn’t understand English well and she doesn’t have online banking. initially we were greeted by a lady who seemed helpful asked us to wait in the queue. Then can along another lady - none of these women introduced themselves in a professional manner with their names. Mum put her pin in correctly at the desk and explained the reason she wanted to transfer her money to my account. Only for then for the woman to ask about her balance, again asking the reason why for the transfers - when my mother had explained already. Considering my mother already has difficulty with dealing with banking things and speaking English - I was trying to help. Then the horrible unhelpful and defensive woman who was asking my mother just blanked me and said it’s your mums account we need to speak to her! Mum clearly explained that it’s her money not yours or the banks and I want to transfer it. We lost our patience and we’re very angry with the women - mum also thought - who are you to ask me about my money!!! If you refuse refuse to help elderly people who are having difficulty due to language barriers after going through security, This Barclays needs to be shut down and the women need to be sacked! Thank goodness I do not bank with this shambles of a bank!!! Soon my mother will Be closing her account and moving to Metro or Halifax
Maybe we’re a bit old fashioned now, but remember the days when banks were well staffed by lots of polite, efficient, smartly dressed staff. We booked a cash collection for today, first member of staff very friendly & polite & directed us to the cashier desk. Four people waiting in front of us for one staffed cashier desk. Since there are lots of self serve desks, anyone waiting here is requiring more personal or specialised help, meaning each transaction taking at least 5 minutes so a good 15-20 minute wait for us. In that time we saw a few staff going about their duties but all seemed pretty grumpy & one positively short tempered. Gone ore the days of smart uniforms, everyone seemed to be in joggers & trainers. Not sure how the older generation are supposed to cope with the reduced service standards, poor old chap in front of us with a walking stick had to wait about 15 minutes to be seen, really not good service at all.
Clinical banking experience, layout is poor, very few actual humans in the branch but lots of automated banking terminals that are slow and unreliable, remember smartphones two decades ago - they’re like that and if they can't do what you want, then expect to be put into a queue where the actual staff sit - but often only one person serving so expect to be waiting ages. If you need to pay in coins, the machines can't handle it so you will have to queue. Hadn't been in a while but this is really awful cost-cutting and penny-pinching, it's not like they can't afford to provide a decent customer experience but I guess they have no reason to want to... New cost-cutting measure: reduced hours, they close at 3pm now!
Barclays in Southampton town centre may be always busy, yes because they in the middle of town but every time I've gone there they are very helpful and not much waiting time and please be Patient as they will do there job and more for you in a good time. The best bank by far as I have bank here for over 20 years. Barclays all the way, well done barclays team and manager. Amazing service and work guys.
Visited to resolve a problem with my Mums account and due to cancelled appointments we were able to be seen straight away. Annabelle was amazing very easy to talk to and she resolved the issue promptly and without issue. Thank you Annabelle for the amazing service and the compassion that you showed both myself and my mum.
Recently I had to pay my monthly Barclaycard using cash at this branch. I am severely disabled and your employee Milvana was of great assistance in completing my business with you. Thank you Milvana.
Must have picked the wrong day to go.There are no Barclay branches open any more where I live or where I work, so I had to go into Southampton on a Saturday. There was no counter service available,I had to wait to be seen, they did their best.l had to leave without finishing what I went in there for as my parking was due to expire.
