Bantock House is a wonderful piece of local history. Nestled in Bantock Park, the house and gardens make for a lovely morning or afternoon out. My favourite rooms are the dining room and the drawing room. Sadly, due to covid restrictions, the dressing up section is still closed but there’s plenty to see for children and adults. In the entrance, there were spider plants for sale in exchange for a donation, and a community bookshelf doing the same. The house is free to enter, but there is a suggested donation of £2. Once you are finished viewing the house, the Dutch garden is always popular, I love the rose garden, plus there’s always the cafe selling a range of hot and cold food & drinks, and if you’ve got kids, the play area a bit further down. For a ‘freebie’ it’s great and I only wish more people visited the place. However, it does host events regularly such as antique fairs, craft fairs and a 1940s weekend usually in the September I believe but it’s been a few years since I went to one!
Popped in for a cuppa and some cake with a mate. It's the first time I've been to the cafe and I am glad I went. We had tea for two and a slice of home made sponge cake each. Very, very tasty and reasonably priced. The staff were pleasant and thoughtful and the cafe was clean and bright, all set in an old charming, barn like, building surrounded by park land. I sat outside in the sunshine, in the courtyard. They also have loos, including disabled, and disabled parking in the car park. I didn't have time to explore, but I'll be back to do just that. What a great place
I couldn't stop gushing over this beauty. It was like coming alive in the 18th century. The children's play room reminded me so much of sounds of music movie. I have not seen a structure like that because of my background. The house is well maintained. You have pictures and souvenirs to remind you of the visit.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Decent sized park good for dog walkers and joggers. There's also a public gym available as well as a café and toilets by the house itself. Entry into the bantock house is free.
A fantastic house and garden. Free to visit. Free parking on the residential street nearby.
Lovely experience at Bantock House. Beautiful gardens, has been a few years since my last visit. Happened to be driving past and popped in. Toilets were clean and gardens were well maintained. Lots of things to take pictures of in the garden. Lovely little outdoor cafe area too.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
A lovely and interactive experience. Would come back.
An interesting house free entry set in lovely parkland. Pretty garden, great little cafe dog friendly at one end, various events advertised on line.
Absolutely fantastic place to visit. Full of history and surrounded by gorgeous grounds with a park. Lovely tea room in old barns with reasonably priced food and drinks. Entry is free but once you have been round you may feel you have to donate as it's so lovely and so well looked after! Every room is full of information about everything from the family that used to live there to the pottery in their collection. Staff are really friendly and talkative.Parking is free and there are a reasonable amount of spaces. Great little hidden Gem that I thoroughly recommend!
Cafe is up + running with seating inside + out. Lovely range of cakes n hot drinks after a yomp around the park. Toilets + parking available.
