Bank House Hotel

Story

The Bank House hotel was built in 1777 for Thomas Hart and served as the first bank in Uttoxeter. It enjoys an excellent position in the town centre, from where you can enjoy the special atmosphere of this Staffordshire market town.

The original bank vault has been retained as a feature in the restaurant and the hotel's oak unsupported staircase is one of the finest of its kind.

With it's close proximity to many of the area's businesses, central for Derby and Stoke shopping, as well as the increasing choice of recreational activities on offer, it makes the Bank House hotel ideal for either a business trip or leisure visit to the area.

After a busy day , whether it be business or pleasure, you will return to a comfortable bedroom, with private facilities, colour TV, tea and coffee.

Read the papers in the lounge, have a quiet drink in the bar, followed by an excellent dinner.

As a centre for touring, Uttoxeter offers many possibilities including Alton Towers, Uttoxeter Race Course, The Pottery Towns, Tutbury Castle, The Bass Museum, and JCB.

The Bank House hotel is excellently sited to enable you to explore these fascinating attractions.

In addition, the Staffordshire Moorlands provides excellent walking in magnificent scenery.

Beautiful Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Kedleston are within easy reach, and Derby has a fine Cathedral and Museum.

Went to a Sunday Northern Soul do. Not many in attendance, shame because its a 250 year old pub.Service: 4/5
Lovely warm welcome as soon as we walked in. Table looked lovely, had a nice view of the church from where we sat. Service was brilliant, so attentive and explained the menu. Presentation of food was simple but beautiful. Every dish served was delicious, and cooked just right. Nothing was too much trouble. Owners were genuinely nice people and it was clear they appreciated your custom. I'd recommend for dinner or tea
Didn't stay at the Hotel but ate Sunday luncheon in the Bistro 1777. The luncheon is great. NO complaints at all. Food delicious, hot, plenty of it and also nice Starters. Meat always cooked to perfection. Dining room needs dressing like it used to be. Fell short on my last visit. No tablecloths nor place mat, no glasses either . Room under dressed and not so inviting. Cluttered at one of room also. Didn't use to be. Roland great host though.!
We had a lovely stay and were nicely welcomed. The room was clean and spacious, with a very large and comfortable bed. We took the option of a very tasty breakfast, which we rate highly. It is in a very beautiful town just 20 minutes from Alton Towers and Stoke on Trent, making it the perfect place to stay for a weekend in the theme park or Stoke on Trent. We will be happily returning for another stay.
Had a lovely time at the bank house hotel. The staff were amazing and very friendly. The room was pretty basic but that was all I expected. Great for a short stay. Only complaint is the church bells that go off all night. Took me until after 1am to fall asleep because of it. Not a reflection on the hotel itself but something to bear in mind if you are considering staying
We held our wedding reception here, food was amazing. Roland and the other staff couldn’t do enough for us, excellent service. We stayed over and the room was beautiful. Breakfast the next morning was delicious. We will definitely be returning hereRooms: 5/5
Stayed here for 3 nights, manager Caroline and staff were very friendly and nothing was a bother, very helpful and welcoming, loved our room and the old retro furniture, beds very comfy, room immaculate, breakfast cooked to perfection and generous portions, great shops around inc big supermarkets, beautiful church opposite, loved hearing the old chimes,Alton towers theme park was brilliant and short drive away, Thankyou so much guys, hope I can come back again in the future Gillian
Had a lovely meal there. The chap sorry didn't know his name was very friendly and made sure everything was perfect. The hotel/ Bar itself was very comfy and nice and clean. Would definitely go back againService: 5/5
The staff were very friendly - couldn't have been more welcoming. The hotel itself was less than ideal. The stairs to the rooms were very steep and elderly people would struggle to get up and down them. The room I stayed in was very hot, almost stifling; air conditioning or a fan would have been very welcome. The curtains were thin and needed a black out lining to block out the lights from outside. The bath and shower were excellent with strong running taps and the towels were generous in size. The food was plentiful but a little plain and the tables in the lounge bar and dining room could have done with a wipe. Also the lounge bar did smell of body odour. It needed fresh air and an air freshener throughout the ground floor. But the welcome was generous and very kind and much appreciated.
Excellent central location near stations. Motorways, shops and with outstanding meals. Strongly recommend Alton towers visitors use it as a huge cost saving hub. See all the attractions without gross overpricing and eat far better at the bank house hotel at affordable prices. See Alton and keep money in your pockets. Think smart think bank house hotel. Good as a commuting base for travelling salesmen. They try so hard for us as guests. Go there. Affordable prices great service. Good people trying for us. Good rental rooms for meetings and weddings. A serious town asset. I will be going back.
