A beautiful closed station building is where this car park is situated, a five minute walk away from Bakewell centre. This car park is mainly attractive to walkers as it is a long stay car park and is right on the Mondale Trail and also the start of many fine walks. The easiest way of paying is by app- it says £6 a day, but then they add on handling fees, but that’s a rant, not a review.nBear in mind that although the car park is only a five minute walk away from the town centre, your walk back will take longer as it is up a fairly steep road. Go easy on the Bakewell pudding to speed up a bit on the return journey from the town.
Lovely area town very nice /we found it easy to park at old train station and cycled 16mls very slight incline upper limit for trains lovely scenery
started our walk in this carpark! really nice area. glad you could use card to pay for a ticket as the app took too long to install
Great place to go for a long walk. It's also very flat and has tarmac. There are 3 long tunnels on the walk as it used to be a rail track. You can hire bikes and stop for a coffee or picnic. Have to be aware of the cyclists.. most of them are polite and ring a bell some just dodge past you. Lots of great photo opportunities.
Good place to get on the Monsal Trail from Bakewell, old railway line route that is easy to walk ‍ and cycle. Includes going through big tunnels and along the viaduct with plenty of views and is part of the Peak District National Park.
