Pub full of character. Only open from 6pm. Great for a drink, food looked nice and was popular, although we didn't have any. Necessary to book. Decor full of interesting objects. Needs a jolly good clean.Service: 4/5
A very friendly and warm pub. Popped in here when staying at the Exe Valley Caravan park. Very homely and lovely owners/hosts. Also a very very cute doggo named Bentley. Will be returning
Close to Exe Valley caravan site. Nice selection of Ales, cider and wine. Excellent meals which have to be booked beforehand.Service: 4/5
Lovely welcoming little country pub, serving just the kind of pub meals you'd expect and enjoy. The absolute surprise for us was the extensive vegetarian and vegan menu, meaning we had a choice from starter to dessert. A little dog lives there, so his dog friends are welcome too.
Nice country pub. Dog friendly but only a small bar area so you need to book if you want to eat and take your dog with you. Good menu choices with a range of vegetarian AND vegan dishes as well as meat and fish. Prices are reasonable. NB closed ALL day on Wednesday.
Handy as it right next to the camp site ! Excellent food , expect large portions of good quality food ! We’ve tried 4 of the dishes all lovely , has a wide selection on the menu, something for everyone, even having a vegan and veggie option. Has a dog friendly section which is very popular. Personally can recommend the Chicken Tikka or Steak pie ! All home made and fresh . Will be going back to try something new .
Very much a old style pub with the hard working owners behind the bar and in kitchen. Homemade style food with several extensive specials boards, including an amazing vegan/vegetarian range as well as fish and a conventional with meat choices. Don't expect a soulless corporate chain or fancy themed gastro pub, it's what an family run establishment with its locals and regulars. Word of advise.... book in advance, understand it is frequently fully booked, even mid week and out of season. Not just if every table full, but also as much I assume, that they know their limitations on how many people/covers/sittings can be comfortably served with their resources, and stop when this is reached. Dogs very welcome and likely to find a pub quiz sheet on your table to challenge you while you are there. Other review comments noted, can only assume that as we had a warm and friendly reception, note:- owner does have a wonderful dry sense of humour that like most people, if rushed off feet, don't have time for small talk, and those who haven't decency to wait till you can be attended to, or respect they are one of many needing attention.... could take offence and things wrong way.... I feel perhaps they are like us, and when confronted by some people, just think {censored} and then concentrate on those who do apreciate your work. PS... thanks for use of phone when ours had no signal, and wife says your dog is soooooo cute, you are lucky she did not have a larger bag with her! We are just sorry we were only on a short break and did not have opportunity to work through the menu.
Such an amazing welcome I thought we’d walked some dog poo in on our shoes. We then cheered ourselves up by reading some of the reviews on here, which are terrible. I can only assume the few good reviews have either been paid for in beer, or are the landlords relations. Looks like we aren’t the only ones to get a stone cold welcome.
Lovely country pub with hearty, delicious food and generous portions. Nice beer and a warming place especially in front of the fire. We will definitely return.
Very disappointed to say the least. The land lord was so miserable and we were not made at all welcome to say the very least. Simple questions were answered with a rude and sarcastic response. The food was just about an acceptable standard but not recommended. The gents toilet is disgusting, and in a desperate need of a good clean.
