Fantastic town that has shops, sporting goods stores, supermarkets and a station with direct trains to and from London. Also has bus stops for buses around the Cairngorms.
Proper old style station, a lot of accommodation,eateries pubs and outdoor activity equipment shops
The old station buildings remain at Aviemore on both sides of the platforms. It is worth walking up and down either side to see the impressive architecture. I visited in March the sun was bright there were one or two people waiting. Some of the station buildings have other businesses in them. Aviemore Station is very central and trains are pretty frequent north and south.
