Story

Discover our lovely cafe, nestled inside the HEART Centre on Bennett Road (the old school building). Enjoy a delicious meal from our menu or our specials board. Or just a snack or sandwich or a drink. Our enclosed courtyard garden offers a beautifully calm haven in busy Headingley, and we have free wifi, if you wish to catch up with friends, or take a break from the office.

We have a fully licensed bar throughout the week, and a regular live music night on Tuesdays (check our events section for more information).


The cafe is family and child friendly, with books for children in a carpeted play area.

The cafe has level access, with excellent disabled toilets available.

The cafe can also provide catering for meetings and events within the HEART Centre.

The HEART Cafe is part of the HEART Centre, and community led Enterprise and Arts Centre.

Such a hidden gem in Headingley. I highly rate this cafe as a workspace the atmosphere is perfect and the staff were an absolute joy. The coffee was great and the food hit the a spot. Really lovely cafe that I wish I'd known about sooner. Plenty of excellent quality vegan options and very reasonable. Soft drinks were slightly pricey but everything else was very well priced. Will definitely be back
This place is integral for the lovely community centre it is hosted in. The staff is always excellent. The food is good and their cakes are always excellent. It feels cozy and it feels wonderful whether you want to sit there with a book and enjoy a coffee or go for breakfast or lunch. It also hosts a variety of events. Kid-friendliness: Often families with kids are around. Wheelchair accessibility: Good wheelchair accessibility.
A wonderful, friendly welcome as a first time visitor! Beautiful menu which catered for my dietary needs, and such a wonderful flexible and adaptable children's menu too. I rarely get us both so well fed anywhere. Toddler wished they had vegan/dairy free chocolate cake but I was fine without also. Will be back, 100%. What a fab place. Fellow customers so kind when my toddler struck up conversation with them past me. I left feeling like my soul was nourished as well as my body. Dietary restrictions: Allergens noted and friendly staff willing to help if anything further required. Kid-friendliness: Special kids menu with mix match parts. And next door is an u-5s play space where you can have your food brought. Genius. Staff chatted to my 2yo in such a kind, genuine, validating way. I could have cried with gratitude.
A pleasant atmosphere on a fairly busy lunchtime. Fresh tangy soup, toastie with plenty of cheese and sharp pickle side, good coffee and mocha. Friendly service and decent value.Food: 4/5
They keep changing the menu for the breakfasts. It used to be incredible and we'd go every week but the food is increasingly disappointing. It's also super loud in there but we'd go for the food and the amazing hash browns. Literally so sad about the menu changes. It seems to get smaller and smaller every week
