This store is a sad reflection on what it used to be before it was taken over. Yes it is a good large shop with a great range of amenities within including an online click and collect unit, a pharmacy, a bureau de change, a postbox, a cafe and all relevant fresh counters but what it lacks is any form of value. Everything is 10, 20, 30p or more expensive than other supermarkets. It may not sound much but it certainly all adds up. Even the petrol at the onsite petrol station was around 7p per litre more expensive than the average around the area and they don't even have staff or a little shop to cover the cost of as all pumps are pay at pump only.nA huge disappointment to me were the toilets. They were among the worst public toilets I have been to in a very long time. The toilet seats were broken, the cubicle locks were broken, they were filthy and even for someone like me who doesn't have a great sense of smell they stank.nThe one saving grace for this store was the staff. They were brilliant. Very friendly and couldn't be more helpful. Although there didn't seem to be too many around the second I needed help there were there. If it wasn't for them the rating would certainly be lower.
Bought a bottle of chardonnay. It was on the bottom shelf and along side wines priced at around £5. When I went to checkout it was priced £12.47. I like the store but if buying wine. Check the price and don't get stung.
Me and my partner went for a quick English breakfast and cuppa before our train this afternoon; an older woman was ahead of us in the queue, we were all waiting a good 5 minutes for the woman at the counter to finish her conversation with a coworker who was literally standing next to us and serve us - the older woman actually had to ask her to serve us.nnThe coffee machines that were in service were a bit grubby despite seeing staff maintaining them whilst we were there.nnThe food came out speedy within 5 minutes, however you can tell it’d been sat under a heat lamp for too long as most of the meat was dry. My partner asked for no beans or tomato as they have a mild allergy, however both plates came with, so they had to eat around the pile of beans and left still quite hangry.nnOverall, service and quality wasn’t great. We don’t expect a lot as it is a grocery store kitchen, however we were both a little disappointed with the overall standard.
Aaran the security guard is just amazing. We need a specific hoodie for our son to wear to school the next day for world mental health day and we called the store at 9pm since we live 1.5 hours away and explained the situation to him. He went out of his way to check with his collegues and found the last one in stock for us aside which we then collected. He’s a true asset to Asda.
Warning! Food poisoning from chicken breast!nAfter eating chicken breast bought at Asda Boston Superstore I ended up in the hospital with severe food poisoning.nThe meat looked fine, but it landed me in the ER.nI do not recommend – be careful what you eat!
