This is a nice place. They have a wide array of curries and dishes here, most of which are delicious. I’d recommend the onion baaji. The prices are reasonable too. Unfortunately the chicken korma and chilli naan bread are a little tasteless though. The drinks are good, and the place has a nice ambience. It made a great place for a birthday trip. I’d come back here in a group.
The Armaan used to be great but I visited on NYE as part of a group of 4 and we were really disappointed. After being seated, we got some drinks and some poppadoms were dumped on the table we were left for over an hour without a food menu. In the end we had to ask our clueless waiter who went and got them. This issue was not unique to us as in the end a different waiter came and took our food order along with several other tables who had been there for a similar length of time. The starters took a long time and when they arrived we weren't impressed see photo Who decided that this was worth nearly £30 a head we were paying for two courses? We then asked how long the main course would be and we were told it wouldn’t be long . After another long wait, we said we wanted to make a complaint and the food miraculously appeared before another table who had been waiting longer. We were told that the delay was due to them ‘having to set up the DJ’. Considering that the DJ started playing 45 minutes early he wasn’t due to start until 10pm according to the flyer I don’t know why this was prioritised over customer orders? The DJ was another poor decision by the Armaan as the music was far too loud so we had to yell at each other to be heard. Who wants a DJ blaring out music when you’re having a meal?! Main meal was ok but the portions were smaller than usual. Our bill was completely wrong- they had overcharged us by over £100, charged for an extra round of drinks and not taken off a free round that they had promised because of the delays. We had booked for 8pm well in advance- I assume most of the sit ins and takeaways had also pre booked so they knew how many customers to expect. They should consider how much demand they can comfortably cope with instead of booking in as many customers as possible and letting the service suffer.
Terrible service! Patronising and very unhelpful. We booked New Year’s Eve.. 5 o’clock. Booked a month before.. we ordered food around 1.5hrs and received nothing.. a waiter confirmed on at least 3 occasions if we were waiting for starters which we were, we still did not receive our starters. After almost 2 hours, another waiter came to our table and requested we confirm our starter order as he wanted to “check the order was correct”. It turned out that our order had not even been passed to the kitchen. When we complained, 2 of the waiters came over to apologise, but also laughed about the situation. They eventually they offered free drinks and settled on us leaving! Would not go again… Would not recommend!
We booked a table here for 19:00. We placed a drinks order which didn't arrive for 30+ minutes after we chased the order. We chased a waiter so we could order our meals. Poppadoms finally another 30 minutes later after we chased the order. We chased the food order again and eventually we were served starterssomebody else's starters before then being served our correct order after 90 minutes or so. We bought our own drinks from the bar after that because we didn't trust the table service. At 21:10 we still hadn't been served our main meals. We told the staff that we were leaving and a man hurried to the kitchen. Soon after our food was pushed out on a trolley, but our minds were set and we had already made the decision to leave. They tried to sell us the food to take away at -50% which I found hilarious. The food I ate was nice. The people were friendly, but the service was chaos. We will not return as I don't feel like they did enough to by way of apology. Dining out should be special and you should be made to feel special by the establishment you are attending. This restaurant fails spectacularly at doing that.
Fabulous food. The quality of produce and level of spice was perfect. From starters to nan as a party of 7 didn't have a single complaint. Restaurant was extremely busy throughout our visit which is a testament to the establishment and explains our level of enjoyment.Food: 5/5
I'm afraid we're having to leave a poor review this evening. The food and service at Armaan is excellent, and they are the best curry house in Bury for my money. But tonight we felt the experience was not great. We ordered online to collect in the restaurant. After waiting for the hour that we were told to wait, I arrived at the restaurant to find it absolutely heaving. I'm glad this restaurant is busy, they deserve it, but it was having a massive impact on orders being delivered on time. They just don't have the capacity to deal with that level of demand. I was in the restaurant for the best part of an hour and to be kept away from my family for over an hour on a Saturday night for a collection order is, I'm sure you'll agree, unacceptable. I was offered a complimentary drink, which was appreciated, but I think the restaurant should close online orders when it gets this busy. I was not the only one left waiting for this amount of time. As a result the food feels rushed. The onions on the starters weren't cooked enough and the lamb pathia wasn't to its usual excellent standard. We will be back Armaan, but please stop taking orders online if it means people waiting an hour in the restaurant to collect. Its not fair on people.
We ate here during the Elvis tribute act played. All four of us have been ill within 12 hours of eating the meal. I didn’t receive what I ordered but didn’t complain as we had waited so long and the restaurant was busy. It cost £63.80 for 2 x double gin and lemonades for me and my friend. They sold raffle tickets for £1 per ticket which felt disingenuous as people didn’t ask which charity it was for or the prizes. I did and it turns out the money was kept by the restaurant and the prizes were a meal for 2 and a bottle of Prosecco. People often assume raffles are for charity so selling raffle tickets to people who are distracted in large parties and some under the influence of alcohol feels wrong when it’s not for a good cause.
Amazing food and great service. Great atmosphere and the staff were brilliant.
I got a lamb dish, delivered 45 minutes after I had called asking when it would be delivered and had been told that it had just left,,,,, I live 800 yards away. The lamb was as hard as a brick, Nan was stone cold and after working all day ended up eating some toast. Sometimes this place is shocking and I feel that they just don’t care about their customers. Extremely, extremely disappointed and disgusted
Good quality food and great service. Any dish can be made for vegetarians so the choice is good for all. Nice atmosphere and interior layout, good for larger groups if you've got a big group of people.
