Arington is an independant family run business specialising in Residential Sales & Lettings in West & East Sussex, an area of outstanding natural beauty with excellent commuter links across the South of England. Arington was set up from a passion of property, and the desire to provide an outstanding professional service to our clients.

These guys are worth avoiding at all costs. They don't respond to tenant enquiries/complaints, but will hound tenants regularly when it suits their agenda. Incredibly slow moving, repeatedly fail to meet appointments for tradesmen to attend properties. Nigel in particular is either an incredibly poor communicator or has too many obligations to deliver on any of them effectively.
Avoid! Moved into the house with a broken oven, broken bar stools, a broken mattress, a filthy sofa, no desk chairs and a rat infestation. My wardrobe was broken and many times nearly fell on top of me, which could have caused serious injury. When we moved out, we left the house spotless and were still charged with 20+ hours of cleaning.. They charge a lot more for the rental of their properties than most estate agents in Brighton yet do not provide half as good service.
Don’t have students best interest at heart. Ripped us off. Problem after problem after problem. Told us we had mice 3 days before we moved in. Oven was broken. No desk chairs. Broken bar stools so no where to sit in the kitchen. Mattresses were poor. Boiler didn’t work. Nigel was unprofessional and rude and belittled any conversation we had with him. Erica gave us false hope time and time again. Avoid at all costs. Safe to say they just aren’t very good at their job and enjoy ripping students off. House was spotless at the end but charged us for 20+ hours of cleaning…. I wish I could give 0 stars.
Terrible support and to contact, didn’t have our internet which was included for the first 3 months of tenancy. Always passing blame then charged us £800 for cleaning after we moved out when it was left spotless??? Disagreed with the deductions amount and still haven’t heard back after a month
Don’t rent as a student, you will be ignored or treated with passive aggressive tone when asking questions in person. Also expect to have costs taken off your deposit for ridiculous reasons.
My experience of using Arington Estate Agents, was a very good one. Me and my partner were first time buyers, and naturally buying our first property was an exciting, but incredibly daunting prospect. We were uncertain of what to expect, although we knew it could be a challenging and stressful experience. However Nigel and Sarah where very understanding and guided us through expertly and they went that extra mile to ensure our dream home was secured and became a reality. Not only did they keep us up to speed every step of the way, but I personally felt I went from practically knowing nothing about house buying to becoming an expert in a few months, thanks to Arington. I would thoroughly recommend them, and intend to use them again when we come to sell in the future.
Do not recommend this estate agents at all. Rented with Arington for a year, complaints were dealt with extremely slowly. After our tenancy ended they took a far larger proportion of our deposit than what is fair considering the state they gave the property to us in was unacceptable to begin with. On top of this they take MONTHS to reply to complaints and do not deal with them using correct procedures. If you are a student I would strongly advise avoiding this estate agents.
Last year Arington started fully managing our property and it was the best choice ever we made. Nothing is too much for any of the staff, but in particular Erica. Since we do not live locally to our properties it is difficult to oversee everything and to deal with everything. The fully managed service from Arington solves that problem. Very pleased with their top notch service for us as landlords and to our tenants.
