Story

The Ardgowan Hotel and Pilmour Hotel is a Scottish Tourist Board 3 star hotel. Located on North Street, the hotels are within 5 minutes’ walk of the University, Castle, town centre, and of course only 200 yards from the world famous Old Course and R&A building.
The hotel comprises of two adjoining Georgian town houses designed by the famous Scottish Architect George Rae. The Ardgowan offers 29 comfortable en suite bedrooms, all recently refurbished to a very high standard with a Scottish boutique twist. The Pilmour hotel, located next door, offers a further 7 en suite bedrooms
Below the hotel, set back from the road by our south facing seated patio, is the ever-popular Playfair’s restaurant. Playfair’s offers a wide selection of freshly prepared food using ingredients from local suppliers, and is extremely popular with both guests at the Ardgowan and local people.

Excellent stay with an itison voucher. From check in to check out couldn't fault anything . Best three course meal in a long time with breakfast as good. Spotless room, very comfy and wonderful shower . Service from staff to be commended . Look forward to visiting again . Location great too .

I would rate this hotel 4 overall but 5 for the staff. In particular, Elly and Carmen at the front desk who couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming. As the face of this hotel, these two are the greatest!!!!! Provided great suggestions on what to see in St Andrews, how to get around etc. I needed to receive some business documents while there and this was handled in a confidential and sensitive manner. Staff at breakfast, though very overworked were also amazing! Hats off to Elly and Carmen and the rest of the staff. They prove you can have a great hotel but its nothing if the staff are not great! With thanks and appreciation for making our stay so pleasant and stress free!!!!

Good welcome, fabulous big room, tasty evening meal and a nice breakfast and the location is close to everything, I will be going back there.
