My friend and I visited for lunch on a Saturday. The inn was about half full, so we had plenty of choice in where to sit. The lunch menu mainly consisted of sandwiches, so we had between us a BLT and a fish-finger sandwich. The food was tasty, and reasonably priced, for around £7 for a sandwich and £3 for chips I had sweet-potato fries. The interior of the inn was also nicely decorated and there was ample parking. However, our experience could have been improved in a few ways: the food was lukewarm when it arrived, which was disappointing but not a big deal. Additionally, there was no table service as we were expected to order by app we ended up ordering at the bar. However, these minor drawbacks did not take away from the pleasant experience, and we received great service from the staff hence the four star rating. All in all, we would return to this establishment. Thanks very much!
Tasty food. But the service is terrible. Haven't cleared our table after starters, but already brought our main meals. With regards to the kids meal, we had only 2 chicken goujons with chips on the plate for £7.50 which in my view is not only ridiculously overpriced but also how could you serve peppery/spicy goujons for a child! So for £7.50 my child had only handful of chips. When I was back home checked their menu online and seen on kids menu, that kids meal supposed to come with free ice cream which was never offered. Most disappointing!!
Great meal out. Mushroom risotto for starter. Fish and chips for main and a nice jam sponge for dessert. All washed down eith a pint of ferret. Stunning.
We went on a hot Friday evening, we sat outside,plenty of seats. There's a small play area for children at the top of the garden. It was busy so there was a small wait to be served for drinks at the bar. There is a good selection of food on the menu plus monthly specials. I had the southern fried chicken burger. It was delicious,the chicken was very tender and the bread roll was soft. You order food at the bar and they bring it out to you. It was busy so there was a slight delay in getting our food but it wasn't too long. There was a band on outside and they were good to listen too. Staff were friendly, helpful and polite. Overall a good experience.
Nice place, friendly staff but the gravy on the beef & pork Sunday roast dinners is genuinely vile! 3x attempts and still watery and inedible. Dry roast, yuck! Inexcusable
Hadn't been for maybe 8 years. It was quite full. We'd booked a table as recommended. Short wait for table to be cleared. Really polite and friendly bar man and waiters. Ordered 2 full beef roasts, 1 fish & chips and 1 small beef roast. Reasonable waiting time. Came hot and looked lovely but beef on 2 full roasts was undercooked and couldn't cut though it at all, let alone chew it. Waitress was very apologetic and didn't hesitate on changing for chicken instead. Both dinners came out hot within 10 minutes and were very enjoyable. Peas where over cooked and dry on fish and chips but otherwise all was tasty and enjoyable. We will go back but definitely won't have beef again. Overall a very nice place to enjoy a relaxed meal and catch up with family or friends.
Fantastic local pub with a great ambiance and traditional feel. Food was amazing and above par for the price, great value. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. Would have liked a whole egg with my Mackerel Salad not just half but that’s me being picky and still a 5* experience
Just visited the Angel for our works Christmas dinner and all we could say after our £30 Christmas meal deal was a big thank you to all involved. The meals were all beautifully executed and delicious. The atmosphere was amazing the waitresses were very attentive. BRILLIANT would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a wonderful place to hold your own Christmas party!! A Big thanks to all involved at The Angel see you next year.
Another really pleasant meal with friends on Monday. Food, service and prices were great but the best bit for me was the Ukranian server who 'played along' with 'you choose' game on what I wanted to drink. Both her and the young blond bar server made our evening, and the drinks tasted pretty good - shame that I still don't fully know what they were. See you all soon - Well Done!!!
Came in last night for a couple burgers and drinks. Food very good and the atmosphere very calming. All the staff were incredibly attentive despite it become a bit busier. We were served and seated quickly and checked on midway through eating. Thanks for charging my phone too! We will be back again
