A little disappointed that the lift wasn't working, undergoing maintenance at the moment. Great day out otherwise. Staff are very friendly, polite and helpful. Cafe is a little expensive but the coffee was good. It shuts at 4.30 but if you order after 3pm you get a paper cup instead of a proper one. Went on the boat ride which was very informative. Lots of country parks within walking distance. Dogs are welcome on leads but not on the boat. Toilets clean and well equipped. Whoe site is pram and wheelchair friendly. Will definitely return when the lift is working again.
It was a shame it wasn't working due to a technical issue the lift but really well laid out site. Free to enter unless you want to go on the barge they run. Nice cafe with viewing area and helpful staff. Really clean toilets. A++ place. Well done.
Wonderful visitors centre, very informative. Available to all mobilities. Suitable for children with vintage slot machines which use pre decimal pennies available to buy from reception. videos about the boat lift showing and plenty of beautifully painted items from canal boats. The cafe has quite an extensive menu at very reasonable prices. Large outdoor play area. The boat lift itself looks amazing and there are walks up it available for a reasonable price. The boat trip wasn’t working the day we went. The walks along the canal are in beautiful countryside.
Haven't entered the lift yet but the visitor centre is very nice with lots of information a very nice coffee shop with some tasty cakes. Downstairs are lots of the old penny arcade machines from years ago. All the voulanteers were very helpful.
Free to enter, pay and display parking. Very interesting Victorian engineering. Visitors centre, children's play area, café & gift shop. Staff are all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is very good.
Good visitor centre cafe & canal side walks all dog friendly. Super trip in canal boat and experienced boat lift. Fantastic commentary on tour and dog made welcome. Don't miss it
Would have been five stars except the lift is out of commission for the foreseeable. Let's hope funding can be raised. The boat trip which runs from the centre is highly recommended. This is a one hour trip taking in a small section of the river Weaver. The trip includes a highly knowledgeable commentator for the duration.
Great place to visit. Free entry to the visitor centre and grounds, which includes a small play area for children. The staff are excellent; friendly and knowledgeable. Car parking is only £3 for all day.
Excellent. Staff are really friendly and informative. Boat trip is a must. Unfortunately the lift was out of service when we visited but still throughly enjoyed the day. Would recommend a walk by the canal. Nice cafe.
An excellent day out whether or not you are a canal aficionado. There is plenty to see and do plus you can ride the lift and have trip down the River Weaver in the Canal & River Trust tripboat . The staff and volunteers are friendly and well informed .
