The absolute worst management ever experienced in retail. A selfish and authoritarian manager who constant belittles and berates staff on a daily basis causing staff to be in a constant state of anxiety and low mood. Zero communication or trust between the manager and staff as a result you will be constantly micromanaged on every task you do. Issues and problems are never resolved as the manager is only concerned with his own performance within the business and has no respect for staff mental and physical well-being in or outside of work. He is constantly passing his workload onto employees which is not reflected in pay. Turnover rate is extremely high and you are not valued or respected in any regard. Would think twice about supporting and or working for this business. Unethical in every aspect.
I was at the general store today waiting to be served when I over heard a mother defending her daughter who works there is apparently 17 years old took a pastry without paying for it. I have never heard such nonsense. I am also a mother and would have done the same thing. A pastry isn’t justified to make a child cry by the management at the general store. I will never take my business there again and I will spread the word.
A bit of something for everyone is this store. By all means the place to be should you be a vegan and happen to find yourself in Manchester. The variety is just out of this world!
Great local store selling everyday items as well as high quality products and local produce, really handy for doing a quick shop. It also has a post office counter, as well as a coffee bar that does hot food you can take away

Trendy looking place. Lots of beer choice, mostly British but I saw some Belgian and American beers too. Friendly service. Reasonably priced beers.
Excellent local off license / convenience store in Ancoats. Every range of food you can imagine, plus an in house coffee shop and bar. They usually have guest pop-up food stalls and grills every week or so too. A real pillar of the Ancoats community.
It's a great shop always has stocked the monster I like which Is needed most days, the staff are always friendly and give welcoming vibes
Post office is absolutely terrible. The queues get ridiculously long and the employees are slower than snails. They seem to be more concerned about chatting amongst themselves then serving customers quickly. The worst is, oftentimes you'll show up to post something and they'll be randomly closed. Other times, you show up at lunch time, and they're "closed for lunch for two hours". Why isn't this specified anywhere so people don't spend time commuting only to find out they're closed? Get more staff. It's ridiculous.
