Service and ambience was very good. We were greeted by a lovely lady at the entrance who pointed us in the direction of the restaurant (downstairs) and a gent showed us to our table. The chicken liver pate was absolutely lovely, really smooth and tasted delicious. The steak however was a bit of a let down, due to the high expectations I had because of the restaurant rating. The steak was cooked the way I like it, medium-rare but the steak severely lacked in flavour and it wasn't seasoned enough. There was salt mill on the table so I crushed some on my steak which made it a little better. Everything was great apart from the steak lacking on flavour.

Visited as a group of 10. At a higher price point it is a good addition to the dining scene of Corn Exchange. Service was friendly and knowledgeable. All food was great apart from the desserts - where they seem to try too hard to reinvent the wheel and it did not pay off. Decent drinks selection and very pretty fit out. I did think its a tad bit overpriced when compared to Hawksmoor.

This is the best restaurant I’ve ever visited. The staff are so friendly and well presented. The food is exquisite! The atmosphere is so chilled and relaxing. We had a fantastic night here. My friend had soup to start which he loved. We both had fillet steak for main course which was cooked to perfection! He absolutely loved his pear desert too. The food was very good, with the steaks being the star of the show. All our steaks were excellent and cooked perfectly which you would expect for the high price. Sam our waiter was great, recommended and informed us thoroughly about the food. Would visit again anytime and would highly recommended.

Great decor, bright , clean and trendy. Staff good and menu even better. Well worth a visit. A tip..the beef is served quite red. Request well done if you like medium.

Amazing! Went here for a 30th birthday meal last night, cannot praise this place enough! Staff - Fantastic, Couldn't do enough! Food - Nicest steak i have tasted in a long time, cooked to perfection, tender and full of flavour. Will be back very soon to try some of the other delicious meals. Thank you to everyone at Alston Bar & Beef.
