Really love this pub/restaurant. Always busy it has a unique busy atmosphere. Good range of fresh fish and steaks. Try half a dozen oysters followed by a steak of your choice chosen from the large cut out moveable cow! Excellent choice of ales as well served in old fashioned jugs. Highly Recommended Parking: Small car park nearby or chargeable Quayside parking short walk away.
After missing our boat we stayed here the rest of the rainy day. Excellent stay with great beds, nice bath rooms and amenities. It also hosts a great bar with lively ambiance and super restaurant with a great selection of traditional dishes which we enjoyed 2 times.
The Alma. We had our date night here and I have to say it's was very relaxing and was the perfect little place for a romantic night. Cracked crab, game pie, locally caught fish sticky toffee pudding and apple crumble trifle all of which where decadent. Between the open fire, the burning candles and the wonderful atmosphere, this will be a place we would love to visit again.
Visited today from out of the area, and was lucky enough to find this brilliant pub. We was welcomed straight away, and even better that they are dog friendly as well. The food was lovely, I recommend the crab linguini with garlic bread, and chocolate brownie for desert The menu was different to the standard pub grub, and included a lot of different dishes with lots of seafood The service was brilliant, and the pub had a really good family feel to it. Just how a pub should be! Could have easily stayed longer if we didn’t have to drive back. % recommended!
A charming, homely-feeling pub with cosy and comfortable rooms. Great staff, dog friendly, reasonable prices, great location. Room had a machine with supplies for tea and coffee. Great décor and feels very authentic. Bonus points for being called Alma as I work on the ALMA radio telescope... If I can have one niggle, I like a good greasy fry-up for a holiday breakfast as much as the next person, but this was maybe just a bit too much. Though there was a lighter option available so I suppose it's my own fault. : I would definitely stay here again.
Never had a bad experience here. Food great beer great and excellent bar staff always have a smile on their faces.Food: 5/5
I wish I could give double the amount of stars. I don't have enough good words to say about this place and its truly fabulous team. I've been to my fair share of excellent pubs with rooms, but I'm not sure I've ever had such a warm, friendly welcome that put us at ease from the first moment. The Alma has personality, comfort and atmosphere by the bucketload. Our room was large and quirky and like the whole pub packed full of character and history. Excellent drinks, with the best wine list you've ever seen, to be enjoyed next to a cosy fire, listening to a fab playlist. And that's before you get to the food, which is so very fresh, thoughtful, generous and packed full of all the good things. I just wish this was my local.
My wife booked this as a surprise for my birthday. Amazing service, amazing setting, the most fantastic food and dog friendly. Can't wait to return and try some more fresh fish!
Lovely Sunday lunch, tasty well cooked food, very friendly helpful staff. Vegetarian pie was delicious. Perhaps a vegan burger to give another vegan option .Food: 5/5
Great little discovery for a pre-ferry dinner. Staff efficient, attentive and charming. Fish and chips excellent but portions enormous so fast for a couple of days before you arrive Kid-friendliness: Though we didn't bring children here, there were families eating nearby and they are clearly very child friendly
