Visited this graveyard yesterday. I was impressed, how clean and arranged! Visited John Lennon's mom's gravestone and Cilla Black's. It's a big plus we could drive in as it is HUGE! Wasn't too busy. Really quiet. Seen a lot of people walking around with dogs, too.
Scruffy. It used to be immaculate, my great grandparents, grandparents, uncles, aunts are all buried here so we have been coming for years. When my mum was alive she would come to tend her mum's grave. The grass was cut nicely. Now it's scruffy, parts are unkept, gravestones up ended and just left. Now they have huge wheeled bins for rubbish and they leave them all along the main drag, so if your grave is quite far from the main through road then you have to travel all the way down to use them. If your elderly then it's a tough slog. It also encourages people to fly tip..what Muppet thought this was s good idea. Clean the place up!
I walk Ava, our dog, through the cemetery, most days. I love the trees, plants, the old and new headstones. In spring and summer the scent from the lime trees I think they are lime trees is beautiful. There are so many different birds to see. I have seen foxes on numerous occasions.
My husband made contact with a lovely gentleman who's name was Robert, we were looking for a grave from over 45 years ago and he could not have been more helpful, we had the section and plot number but we just could not find it, Robert rung us to say someone would go to the cemetery and put a marker for us to find. We were over whelmed because they had put my daughter's name on the marker and at last we had found our baby from 1972. I can not thank Robert and the people at Allerton enough for the gift they have given my family.
My Grandparents and my Brother and uncles are Buried there and my mum and dad were cremated here peaceful place and beautiful well kept place.

We have been locked in Allerton Cemetery time after time before the closing time. It’s getting to be a joke. They don’t even check that any cars are inside before they lock all the gates. Bad Show Liverpool City Council.
It's very quiet mainly because everyone in there is dead.
