All Hallows Church
"All Hallows is an inclusive Christian community in inner-city Leeds exploring the meaning of faith in the 21st Century. Whoever you are, you will be welcome here.We are trying to respond to the challenge of Jesus of Nazareth to love God, ourselves and others, exploring the meaning of God’s love for all people — women, men, black, white, gay, straight, older, younger, of faith or no faith — and looking to meet the needs of people who feel damaged or marginalised. With others in the area, we work for justice, reconciliation and to inspire hope. Desmond Tutu’s phrase ‘the rainbow people of God’ underlies our use of the rainbow symbol — coming from a variety of backgrounds, ages and lifestyles, we celebrate and affirm our God-given diversity."

This is a special place! Our youngest was married here this week. As a regular church goer but not locally, I've found this to be a place of both sincere Christian worship and loving inclusion. The vicar took a wonderful service. Other church members helped unstintingly with serving teas, coffee and cake both before and after. We were a really mixed congregation and everyone was made to feel at ease. The very happy couple have found the church to be an important source of love and support at a difficult time. Thank you to Heston and all those who helped to make it such a wonderful day.
While the ambiance and coffee may be pleasant, it falls short in setting a good example for the community. The glaring issue is the lack of standards when it comes to enforcing appropriate behavior. A community space should be a safe and respectful environment for all, and turning a blind eye to such behavior sets a bad precedent for everyone, especially the younger generation. Unfortunately, they seem to prioritize personal do-gooder credit over community welfare, and that leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. I hope the management takes this feedback constructively and works towards being a better example for the community. Only then can I genuinely recommend this place to others without reservations. As of now, I am hesitant to fully endorse this cafe to fellow community members who care about the well-being of our neighborhood.
I will NEVER step foot again in this place in my life all thanks to one person called Beth she is in her early 60s, she works in the kitchen/ runs, I spent 48 hours with no sleep just to help feed the lonley and Homeless on Christmas only to get shouted out and degraded by that person called Beth, she is not fit to be in a space where peace and understanding should be paramount...I am a gay refugee of ethnic minority and also have been through the asylum process and a horrible 13years of homelessness in this country,i suffer from ptsd, I have no family in this country, only to come to a place where I thought understanding and peace would be paramount TO HELP, only to get insulted and shouted at like a kid,I am nearly 40 and I dont expect people to behave like that... i have only come to help! It should be good vibes when sharing food. I sacrificed my CHRISTMAS EVE AND CHRISTMAS day only to be treated very horribly by this person,, she says she runs the kitchen, but kept insulting and shouting and throwing our pots and pans, I broke my back to help clean the VERY dirty kitchen she was working In when I had no obligation to.... only for her to be ungrateful and disrespectful ,You dont treat peopel that have come to help.. in such manner, I am totally disgusted by her behavior... I never expected to meet such a horrible spirit running the church kitchen... its a good church but I wouldn't want any of my friends or even enemies to go there, if they would encounter such a person she totally ruined my chrismas day. THE PRIEST IS amazing! Dont go near the cafe if Beth is there, we were one of the very few ethnic minority of black descent there and was treated very horribly .. I dont know who has endorsed or certified such a person with very bad vibration and character to cook for people in a church!!... they tried to excuse her bad behavior by saying she is a lovely person...., but I wonder where that loveliness went on eve and Christmas day. It's a place of solace and NOT a place where people should display their disgusting character. I will make sure I dissuade people I know from going to that cafe if she is still working there ....its unfair on the general public...people cant be putting such bad vibes in their body.... she was acting as if she was the only one with issues... or the only one working to help the homeless people....I'm very disappointed on my very first and last visit.
Went in today to look at how I can volunteer at some community events as I am retired, found it seems more like a strong left wing political organisation judging by the numerous posters and signs etc. rather than a place of worship unfortunately. Nothing wrong with it, but come on it is a church and should be more about religion. Great location however in the heart of a diverse community.
A place of charity love meeting and welcome...the sense of community spills over especially when Rainbow Junction is activated. Look on the website for what's on. My christmas lunch proved once again the highlight of the festive period. I made friends from China, Italy, Uganda and Greece and Leeds this year...Sursum Corda!
Everyone at All Hallows are great ppl, very welcoming and warm! The vicar, Heston, is a great, fun guy and really down to earth xx So is his wife, Lydia x
A real community centre. A church in the liberal, inclusive tradition but now with a lively, charismatic priest. Genuinely a fascinating mix!
Lots of activities going on here and plenty of outreach with the community, including some valuable partnerships alongside other places of worship from different faiths.
Very inclusive Church with a fab vicar. Lots of community involvement and support a lot of vulnerable people
A lively, inclusive church committed to social and environmental justice, with its own pay-as-you-feel community café.
