A really beautiful bar - a great place to be for either drinks, food or coffee and cake. Really different from anything else around. Lovely staff, one of whom was helpful even after she'd finished her shift. Great drinks selection, both in the choice of wines and beer including a decent alcohol-free beer for drivers and an especially nice gin cocktail called the 'bees knees'. Can we have one in Fleet too please!
Huge plates, very small burgers, big prices! Chicken main was dried up, suspect haf been reheated, & unrecognisable as chicken & had to be returned. The calzone was very oily. No excuses as the place was empty we'd booked but max 2 other tables occupied at any one time-at Christmas-speaks volumes?! so more care could have easily been taken. Unfortunately also meant no atmosphere and very cold, all had coats over our knees. Waiter stank of cigarette smoke obviously popping out for a drag but did have a good memory as nothing written down! Puds were nice but did not compensate for the rest of the meal! Expensive for what it was was so not planning on returning. Very disappointing as wanted try something different to usual big chains.
I have to say myself and a 5 girlfriends went out on Monday night for our annual Christmas gathering, We had a chosen a set menu to make things easier, upon arrival we barely had put in our drinks order and the starters had arrived which I have to say were very average, mine in particular was swimming in oil which was not nice. Then shortly after, the mains arrived not enough time in-between. I had to request that there was a gap for desert to arrive as otherwise our meal would have been finished with in an hour. Overall the restaurant lacked atmosphere and throughout felt very rushed. Would not return in a hurry.
We have been regular visitors to Alcatraz and always loved the food and service. Went a couple of weeks ago and whilst the service was great the food wasn't good burnt or not as described on the menu due to missing ingredients. We were told that there was a new chef, so until things settle down we'll not be going back.
Took the family for Christmas dinner and not impressed, my daughter and I were very ill. We had steak and far too many peppercorns in the sauce. Maybe a one off but I would not return because of this. The restaurant was clean and the staff pleasant but food at the time not so good
I had a lovely meal here with my family. The staff were very helpful and friendly, without being obtrusive. The food was wonderful and we would definitely visit again.
Expensive, especially drinks. Top tip, pretend you smoke and have a crafty pint next door whilst waiting for your food ;-
Very nice coktail and amazing food def I will be back
