We had our wedding reception at Albion House Hotel and from the moment we booked until breakfast the morning after our wedding we could not have asked for a better level of service and hospitality. 14 guests including ourselves stayed and the rooms were fabulous. The staff could not have done anything more to have made our wedding day more memorable. Everyone went out of their way to ensure the evening ran smoothly. From Camille who ran through our wedding plans, to Ben, Josh, Tia and Alisha who prepared the stunning room and tables and looked after us and our guests. The food was exceptional, so much so my husband went and thanked the Sous chef and invited the chef to the table so we could all say thank you for such wonderful food. We would not hesitate in recommending the hotel for a stay but especially for intimate weddings where your every need will be catered for. Thank you to all involved for making our day so special… we will be back for our anniversary! :
We stayed here 2 rooms Good Friday and had the most amazing stay. The room was so beautiful, especially the bathroom with its powerful and stunning shower. The staff were friendly and greeted us with a free glass of Prosecco. If you can have dinner there , do it. The breakfast didn’t fail. Stay here if You get a chance.
My wife and I are regular diners at Albion House but our last recent visit was disappointing. It appears that the Chef is aiming for a Michelin Star and he or she have changed the menu into a sharing experience. The result is a short menu, with no potatoes, or chicken. With Lucy"s help we managed to order a "starter" and "main course" - each. The food was very nice but sadly we will not be returning until the original menu is reinstated. Call me "old fashioned" if you like !
Very beautiful building, which has been lovingly renovated. I only went to a meeting there didn't stay in any rooms except the ground floor reception rooms which were lovely. Amazing views from all windows. Would love to stay at some stage.Location: 5/5
Myself and friends stayed on Friday and had a nice time. The rooms were a good size, well appointed and comfy with a sea view. The only minor issue was they were about 28° on arrival. The lounge, bar and restaurant we're all nice places to be and the staff were all lovely throughout. Drinks were good and prepared with care. We had dinner Friday night, and this is where it went slightly wrong. We were presented menus in the lounge and all chose. When we got to the table, there were different menus, and it turned out we'd been given the old menu which was better. We then chose again, but it was only upon ordering we were told our food comes when ready, not in a traditional way. I was told later this was a trial of 'English Tapas'. This would be fine if the menu was truly small plates, but it's actually starters and mains with the titles taken away. The beef and pork are not shareable. Surely, that's the point of tapas. The food we got was gorgeous, and all were impressed. I had Mussels a starter and beef cheek a main and a sticky toffee pudding. I had my Mussels and Beef side by side, though, as did others on the table. It's fine trying new things, but it would be better to be upfront with your guests if doing so. Breakfast was gorgeous as well, four full Englishes which looked great, and I had the Eggs Benedict, which was perfect. Overall, It was almost there, but as you'll probably guess, slightly spoilt by the dining experience. Rooms: Nicely, and traditionally appointed, with an excellent ensuite. Food & drinks: The menu is a bit "different" and limited. Double check it meets your needs before booking. The bar is excellent and really well stocked.
A return visit to Albion House and it is showing major signs of wear and tear now. Lots of scuffed walls and peeling paint to be seen and, basically, looking tired and in need of a major refresh. It no longer looks like a four star hotel. Breakfast was OK, but the spiced baked beans were vile and the bacon was poor quality. Anything other than a black/filter coffee and you pay extra - a real bugbear of mine. The waiting staff were excellent. I wouldn't return unless a refresh is done.
We booked dinner for 4 people and at no point we were served or looked after. I had to ask for everything. Olives and bread were served at the end of the meal and only when I pointed out we hadn't had them. Chips were not triple cooked but frozen. Fish and chips were listed on the board but not available and the menu was a terrible selection. My brother went without dinner. The rooms are expensive and the service is appalling. Overpriced and has gone downhill badly in the last few years.
Fantastic food. Great views. Lovely staff. Would love to come and stay done day. Zoe and Adrian from Wells SomersetRooms: 5/5
Great place for a drink, did not eat but the decor is so amazing, spacious bar and restaurant, loads of seating and armchairs, cosy corners. The bar staff are amazing and so friendly.
Great food and drink + a relaxed but proficient friendly service. Fantastic views of the harbour and town. Definitely will stay again....though try to avoid the climb to the 2nd floor bedrooms next time Rooms: 4/5
