Aladdin's Cave

About

A veritable Aladdin's Cave of thrifty finds, reclaimed doors and architectural salvage

Story

South-east London’s premier treasure trove of furniture is easy to spot from the road – the lifesize metallic model of Predator is a slight giveaway. Inside what feels like a giant shed hang a variety of chandeliers. The far back wall, covered by stacks upon stacks of paintings and prints in mismatched frames, can’t be seen from the doorway because of the sheer volume of wing-backed chairs and dressers. The further you venture into the cave, the more your jaw will drop as you become surrounded by what looks like every chair that has ever been manufactured, rows of sinks, antique fireplaces, Victorian radiators and an array of outdoor furniture sets. Even if you have no intention of going to buy anything, you should still go to see if you can spot the ice cream machine, the seesaw and the gymnast’s vaulting horse.

If you are looking for reclaimed doors or cast iron fireplaces, the Aladdins Cave is well worth the visit.
If your looking for a little gem aladins cave is the place to be some beauteful victoran fire places
The same as it was 20 years ago, it might even have things for sale here from then too!
My brother and I were here a few years back, it surely is a must see and buy. So much choice.
Best place ever.. went there today in a rainy day.. I love this place most of my things at home are from this place.
I got some beautiful vintage furniture delivered from here and at a really good price! The staff are nice and very helpful.
Bought a great cast iron roll top bath here. Got a better price compared to eBay or gumtree and the guys dropped it over and helped me get it up the stairs for no extra charge! Will always look here first from now on, Really positive experience.
We love this place. Wonderful staff who told us the history of the building. Always intriguing new things to see.
After several months of driving past this intriguing emporium, I finally had the opportunity to pop in. Definitely worth a visit, they have some impressive signage, lovely old reclaimed fireplaces, on trend original industrial lighting to name just a few of the many items they sell. The office and it's flaming fire are a site to behold and some of the items are very interesting to look at. I left feeling somewhat underwhelmed however, as it seemed too much effort to seek out the few gems to be found amongst all the junk. I'm pretty confident you can find much of what was there, in far better condition and for a much better price elsewhere.
My wife found a nice wooden planter for sale in Aladdin's Cave. When asked the price, the shop assistant said it was £50 because it was "Victorian". We felt this was a bit on the high side similar to a new planter from Homebase of the same size, so I went back the next day and tried to get a better deal. The same planter now cost £150 and was "Continental". Which is it? Victorian or Continental? Perhaps you can get a good deal here if you're the kind of person who knows exactly what they should be paying and enjoys haggling, but I can't be bothered. Having said all this, it's quite a cool shop to browse.
