The food is average, and on a Sunday it's clearly batch cooked, so the food tasted like it had been on a hot plate for a while. This is also backed up by the fact we could only have the beef rare or medium, as "that's what the chef has cooked". It all lacked seasoning, depth and flavour. Staff weren't exactly helpful, and one older lady (assuming management as she wasn't wearing a uniform like the others) was snarky and rude. It wasn't exactly heaving, yet 50% of the bar was covered in empty glasses to the point we had wine served in a pint glass. For the price range it sits in, you'd expect a lot more. Which is a shame as it was a lovely environment and money has clearly been spent on making it a spacious and welcoming place to eat - but I think describing it as a gastropub is a bit rich given it's current food quality.

I went there with my wife for a treat night and what a treat it was. Lovely waitresses, very friendly and always available to give advice, top quality locally brewed ale and huge portions. Highly recommended!

Food was like roadkill..dry, cracked and served with congeled gravy...there were also additions to the bill totalling £20???? Which when questioned was promptly knocked off...will never go again. 3hours for 2 courses?? Run by clowns.

We enjoyed a delicious meal here along with our dog, in warm rustic surroundings. Our waitress Christine deserves recognition for her friendly and professional service. She is the life and soul of the place!

Food cooked nicely but the portion was a bit too much for me.waited a bit before order taken but then no hold ups
