Bought 4 single scoop ice creams for £11. Price seemed ok to me. Staff were prompt and polite. Play area for kids was nice. They have a toilets and your allowed to use it, that’s a plus!
First and last time I'll be going. Overpriced menu for the location not in the best part of town and service. The place was dirty with uncleaned floors and sticky tables. The service was slow and unprofessional. The soft scoup ice cream, wasn't soft at all and was full of a icey texture. They had a soft play area inside with a high price tag per hour, when realistically kids would only be playing inside for a few minutes. Better to offer free play with a minimum spend. Avoid at all costs.
I went here for the first time with my children and family members. Absolutely disgusted with their staff and lack of customer service. We were given a menu, asked to take a seat decide what we wanted and come back to the till to place order. They have a play area. My three children took their shoes off and went straight in. Lots of parents standing around the play area. I went to place the order. First being a banana split and then followed by two waffles with ice cream. I was asked if my children were playing in the play area. I replied yes. He then asked how many children I had I said three. He then said "thats a £2.99 charge for each child to play in the play area.". I questioned where does it say that. He stated it was advertised everywhere and that his regular customers were aware of this. Obviously I'm not happy. Should he also not know who his regular customers are?. Would it not be good customer service to mention this to everyone entering the shop that this charge is applicable to children wanting to play in the play area. Or is this why they send you to the seating area so that once your child goes into the play area they can charge you? When I returned back to my table I looked around and there was nothing on the walls. Nothing displayed on the tables. Just two signs on either end of the play area to advise of the charge and you would not see this if parents are standing in front of the sign. So this is why I missed the £2.99 charge sign. Finally the dessert arrived. The second one arrived but no banana split. I checked the receipt. The guy hasn't even placed my order for this. Considering I paid so much money I was under the impression that I had paid for this. When I approached the guy and advised that he hadn't placed an order for my banana split he was adamant that I didn't ask for the banana split. It was almost like he had selective hearing. I was so annoyed. Must be a rule for their staff. . If you mess it up deny all knowledge of everything. I would not recommend this place to anyone. All the staff needs to go on a customer service course. It should be mandatory for them to inform their customers that they charge your children £2.99 to be there basically. Bit better of a joke to be honest. They shouldn't call it Afters. It should be called After. . . .we shall rip you off!!!!
This service was absolutely atrocious. There was a private party going on beside us. The rules of the play area claim 8 kids at a one yet there were at least 13 kids playing and screaming whilst we were trying to eat. Not only this, our food came one by one when we wanted to eat altogether. We ordered crepes, they were most definitely more like chapattis. I’d give this a 0 if I could.
We just came back from afters and wow what a terrible experience. I ordered a milkshake... they didn't have milkshakes I ordered a waffle, they didn't have waffles! I resorted to order a cake, yet that wasn't even available! I was thinking, this must be a joke. In the end I got a crepe for my sister, standard ice cream for me and a cookie dough and sundae for my friends. The crepe was terrible. Undercooked and tasted very off. The ice cream was ok. Not bad. The cookie dough.... was shocking !!! It was burnt and hard. We left the restaurant so dissapointed. In the past when we went afters, the standard wasn't too bad but this is shocking. The customer service is non existent. I don't think I will come again and recommend to anyone until they improve.
Wish I had checked the poor reviews before ordering with Afters. My delivery arrived 30 minutes past the expected waiting time....I only ordered with them because it said delivery was between 15-20 minutes on UberEats. So basically they took almost an hour to deliver when we live only about 10 minutes drive away. When we eventually received the order it was entirely wrong: 1x chocolate fudge cake, HOT received 2x COLD slices from Costco 1x Mississippi mud pie received nothing 1x black forest gateau received some kind of cherry chocolate slice with whipped cream inside & chocolate sprinkles on top from Costco 2x scoops of chocolate ice cream received a kiddies tub filled with a blob of vanilla ice cream wrapped pathetically in cling film and leaking - I have better ice cream in my own freezer I called them and spoke to H**** who told me to contact UberEats to get a refund. ???? So I asked to speak to the manager and was told he is busy and to call back in 5 minutes, I declined and said I would wait on the line. Manager came on the phone by the name of F****. I explained the problem and he said he would issue a refund and give my order on the house the next time I come into Afters. After such a poor experience with them, and the Costco slices, I don't think I'll be visiting Afters so will not receive the gesture of good will offered by the manager. If I want the cake slices again I will just go to Costco myself and cut out the middle man. Ice cream was abysmal as was the customer service. Whether the manager would have honoured the gesture of good will, we will never know as they won't be getting any future custom from me. & whether I receive my refund or not, only time will tell.
Ice cream was average as were the waffles. I ordered 3 waffles but the guy brought only 2 to the table, oblivious that I had ordered one more. Also there's some machine that makes a huge racket which is off putting. The only positive thing about the joint is the play area which the kids loved, in fact I better go and get them!
Absolutely DISGUSTING CUSTOMER SERVICE. I would have awarded this minus 5 if I had the option. My son accidentally knocked over his sundae glass and broke it. All the staff made a fuss I pay for the broken glass. Bearing in mind I had paid over £31 for ice cream and they were crying over a £1 glass. A young illiterate guy behind the counter started yelling at me telling me he didn't care about the customers. Obviously he had a problem being spoken down to by a woman. No consideration for my children or if they were ok, and they were upset. Another customer tried to come to my aid and even he was shouted at. He eventually left without ordering. AVOID THIS PLACE like the plague. Rude staff, overpriced ice cream dirty sticky tables and chairs.
I have never been so disappointed with the quality of ice cream sundaes and service at a parlour that advertises itself to be so fantastic. When we got to the place it was 11:45 and the lady asked us to step outside as she hadn't finished mopping the floor yet yet on the website it states that they open at 11. When we were finally allowed to sit down and pick the desserts we were after, we realised they were all very pricey but we didn't want to be put off by that and so we went ahead and ordered 3 sundaes and 3 scoops of ice cream in a cup which was for one person but turned out to be served in 3 different cups and we were charged £37 so nearly £40pricey much. Even though we were the only people at the parlournot surprised anymore, it took around 15-20 minutes to bring the first dessert. When it arrived we were a bit confused as the whipped cream which the whole sundae was flooded in, already looked like it was melting. We then had to wait for the second one, another 10 minutes and then 10-15 more for the one after that. All of the ice cream in all of the desserts tasted exactly the same. We first thought that they maybe used a vanilla ice cream and then added food colouring to the rest to make it look like they were chocolate, mint, mango and all the other flavours that we had, but no. The vanilla one didn't even taste of vanilla, they all basically tasted like they were watered down, they didn't have a taste. One of the sundaes was a chocolate fudge cake one yet the cake had a flaky texture to it and it tasted as if I could still taste the flour, the cake was also just dumped on top of the whipped cream, right at the top of the sundae. I have actually never been so disappointed. I will never be coming back.
