Lovely fine dining experience - some very daring choices from the chefs, but ultimately all dishes were a unique experience. Nice journey in flavours. Some very subtle, some quite "explicit" I'm looking at you, salted caramel truffle! But all in all well worth it. Price is quite low for what it is. Recommended for a unique occasion.
Everything about this experience was wonderful. Service was immaculate and every single dish was incredible. We weren’t expecting Liv the chef to be there actually cooking so my partner was over the moon to see that she was! I guess this just added to the whole experience as well. Like most chefs that do incredibly well on TV shows, we thought that she’d probably be off on new ventures setting up restaurants in every city
Beautiful and interesting food in friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The wine flight was really interesting, the sommelier talked us through the pairings. A gem, highly recommend.
Great evening doing the tasting menu and the pairing menu - some great flavours, dishes and wines. I learned of this restaurant from the chefs appearance on the great British menu and had the opportunity to say hello as well! Very enjoyable
We had a wonderful experience here for my boyfriend's birthday. The food was absolutely incredible and the service was great too. Beautiful food in an unpretentious and welcoming environment
Wow...where should I begin? The tasting menu was a fantastic dining experience...worthy of the celebration of our anniversary for sure. The dishes crescendoed in their excellence...each seemingly better than the last, despite the early courses being wonderful in their own right. Each was a perfectly balanced creation, mixing flavors and textures to perfection. To mention a few specifics see the photos below, to see how each dish was presented the hake was simple but overwhelmingly delicious when combined with the smoked roe and butter sauce...just fantastic. The lamb was probably my personal favorite, with the overlapping flavours of the different cuts of lamb, carrot and onion working together soooo well. The execution continued into the desserts...especially the chocolate, miso, sesame creation...mindblowingly good. Every course, while a perfect combination taste-wise, was also creatively built and presented...and the result was definitely worth the effort in the kitchen. We also had the paired wines, all of which had clearly been painstakingly thought through and further enhanced dishes served. Of special note was the Theodora from Austria which, which would not have been our first choice for drinking on its own, was perfectly complimented with Confit kohlrabi. Full credit for the team for getting the wine pairings right...this was as good as it gets. The service was flawless. The venue small but, as a result, kind of intimate. I wouldn’t hesitate to go again but it isn’t cheap...so it’ll only be for special occasions. The easiest 5 star review I have given in ages.
Awesome tasting menu. Each dish a microcosm of flavours. As with any tasting menu, lots of small dishes but you end up leaving full up. Great service from the sommelier, giving simple but detailed descriptions of the matched wines and dishes.
Stunning Birthday lunch -very inventive, precise cooking, great relaxed service, with wine flights and knowledgeable yet not over the top explanation of each glass. Highlights ? Aged parmesan sauce, perfectly cooked venison, chicken liver meringue amuse bouche, too many to mention. Pricey but worth it. Best meal in UK for quite a while.
It was nice. I was contacted twice to confirm my booking as they were 'very busy'. The service lacked from this, was super slow... but as a very small restaurant either dont take the bookings or have more staff. It was 30 mins from ordering before our drink arrived and over 2.5 hours in total 2 people for lunch. A 5 course meal but very small portions especially on the veggie side, I left hungry. As a veggie the food was average and lacking in flavour but my partner said the meat and fish were brilliant. Wine pairing was good, the staff ate knowledgeable but very small pours and rushed to leave at the end. Dessert and petite fours were jelly like textures which as a veggie I personally didn't enjoy. Average. Wouldn't return.
What a treat! Had the vegetarian tasting menu with wine pairings for lunch. Relaxed atmosphere, exquisite and imaginative dishes and unusual but delicious wine choices.
