They condemned our boiler, switched it off, and told us we had to get a new one. Turns out this very expensive option was unnecessary, and their diagnosis wrong. We asked someone else for a quote, and they told us we didn't need a new boiler. They made a small adjustment to the gas valve setting, and everything was back working, and passed the safety check. Having spoken to other heating engineers, they have all stated that this is basic stuff, and don't know why it wasn't done, and why we were told a new boiler was needed. 8 years ago the same engineer condemned our previous boiler, and we got a new one. Having described the situation to the chap who sorted things this time, he expressed doubts about that too. Although he couldn't say without having seen it, he would have expected a small repair to have been all that was necessary. Not a new boiler.

It was time for a replacement boiler after 20 years, and after careful consideration and research I chose to go with Aberdeen Boiler Services. Within a day of initial contact, a member of their team came to my house to discuss options and costs, which I may add were very competitive. The replacement boiler was fitted at a time that suited me with no fuss or mess and I would highly recommend their services, whether it be an installation or repair. Many thanks to Aberdeen Boiler services for your professional and courteous staff with a hassle free installation.

I arranged a time slot this afternoon between 3-5 to get my boiler serviced by ABS. It's a fine day so took the dog out for ten mins around the block. At 3.36 I received a call letting me know the engineer had arrived. I thought no problem I'm a ten min walk away if that. When I arrived outside my door the engineer was getting into his van and told me he couldn't do it as he didn't have time to wait around all day like that. I was quite taken aback by this as previous services I've had with them, they have been late and I have let it slide. I checked my phone records and the engineer claimed I was half an hour later which is not possible as the phone call I received from him and then their office are only 12 mins apart ....... In addition to this, the last time my boiler was serviced by ABS I ended up phoning their emergency line a day later as the boiler had started to make an awful noise. In fairness to ABS they came out first thing the next day on a Saturday to fix the problem and explained that they reckoned that the ABS engineer who had serviced the boiler the previous day hadn't calibrated his tools properly which had led to misreadings and a noisy boiler. Again I thought well they have corrected their mistake and so was happy to use them again. After today though I don't think I will be. I was still within the time slot between 3-5 albeit 12 mins late. I felt the receptionist and engineer were rushed when speaking to me and couldn't get me off the phone quick enough. As a customer I don't think I should be punished by what seems a very tight and rushed working schedule. I will be taking my business elsewhere from now on.
