Really beautiful area Melrose and fully recommend a visit to the area. Abbotsford while beautiful is quite a short wee tour expect an hour max in the house. The gardens are amazing though and quite happily spend a couple of hours wandering. All in all a good afternoon jaunt. There's also a great coffee shop for afternoon teas.

As you make your way past the initial display cases with objects that describe family history and connection you walk out onto the grounds looking toward the house and walled garden. When you step inside you are greeted by armour crest and claymores. Just what you'd expect to see in a very fine ancient castle. This is just the beginning of a marvelous home each turn a thrill don't miss the garden on your way round and find your way to the river enchanting!

Great walking audio tour. Sorry it's only 1 floor. Great visitor centre and restaurant, food was excellent. Also enjoyed the fact that it was only a 15 minute walk from Tweedbank station.

Although we didn't visit the House this time, as we had the dog with us, we thoroughly enjoyed the grounds and gardens. Such a lovely setting! The Visitor Centre, including the Shop, is amazing, as is the Cafe - and very welcoming to us and the dog! Well worth a visit!
