Unfortunately I can't race about this place. The two ladies serving on my visit were miserable ..they tried to make small talk but you could tell they really didn't want to. The portions were decent but the fish was greasy which made the chips taste fatty. We asked for a bag of scraps...but these were dripping with fat. Price point...about the average price in Selby but the quality is average too.
Ordered here tonight for convenience. 90 mins it took. Food items missing and wrong. Called shop to be told if I leave my name I can get it free next time or go and pick it up. No apology or anything. Multiple staff too busy at back door to help. Chose to go pick it up as the missing item was a main part of the meal, returned home to not just the rest of the meals cold but apparently the scampi looks and tastes like chicken nuggets. I would like the manager to message me back to arrange a refund! But I'm not holding my breath # Ordered by own app and doesn't allow refunds!
Great traditional fish and chip shop. No frills unless you count pies, mushy peas or battered sausages as frills. Seem to have regular staffing problems leading to slightly reduced opening hours, particularly on Saturdays, which is a pity. Check on a Saturday whether they're open.Food: 5/5
Nice tasty fish & chips, don't like how the prices have gone through the roof though.....!! Parking: Park a cross the road in the street, but it's the main road through town so be careful you could easily get a parking ticket.....
Wow when they say homemade Yorkshire Fishcakes .. they mean fish cake .. I've had many over the years but never with so much fish in them ...fantastic Jim brown Hillam near SelbyFood: 5/5
Popped in at 17.30 today for sausage & chips. The sausage was nice but the chips were awful. We couldn't decide if they had been sat there for ages or reheated. They were hard and not very nice to eat. Its the 2nd time we have visited the first time the chips were nice hot and freshly cooked sorry there wont be a 3rd timeFood: 2/5

I very rarely have fish and chips as I am usually disappointed but got some for myself and hubby who is even more fussy than me. Well were we impressed? absolutely fantastic, the batter was spot on, really crispy and no grease in sight, the chips were cooked to perfection. Definitely the best fish and chips in Selby and far beyond. Will not be a stranger to this place anymore.
