Absolute cowboy con artists!
These guys quoted for a new clutch and flywheel for my 2001 mondeo. Great quote, so I checked that this included the normally expensive dual mass flywheel. They revised the quote increasing it although still seemingly very good value. The price rose another £150 by the end of the job because it had "been a difficult job and taken longer than expected". Following the work, the clutch worked better, but the turbo inlet pipe was left disconnected, fortunately I knew what was wrong and re-connected it. The car had a nasty clunk which on returning and questioning this, I was dis-interestedly told it was just because the clutch needed to bed in. I discovered later that they had cut through the rubber lower engine mount to make quick work of removing the gearbox! I didn't bother to ask them to fix this and did it myself. Less than 5 months later, the car developed an issue with the clutch and was taken to another clutch specialist who diagnosed a badly worn clutch and flywheel!!! The specialist showed me the clutch removed from my car and demonstrated that the flywheel was the original part and had never been replaced from manufacture, additionally, it was doubtful that the clutch plate was only 5 months and 3000 miles old!
Don't take your car here, don't be taken in by the owner's friendly banter, they're clearly crooks, and judging by the owner's fancy rangerover, wealthy crooks at that! They're cheap for a reason, stay away!
