Purchased Honda CRV from ASL. Car is good but after Sales Service is very poor. There was no mechanic on site when I took the car and we noticed parking sensor issues. Once home in Ireland Honda confirmed job was bigger than anticipated and also realised there was another issue with fumes getting into cabin. I paid €825 for repairs and ASL have refused to pay or even contribute. The car was also supposed to have been serviced yet these issues were not picked up.

Hi all, I am Adam Smith (Adam to my friends ;) and I've attempted to buy a car from ASL car sales but was greeted extremely rudely by a Scottish jock! Then I proceeded to say my name and he unpleasantly repeated my as if I was his partner. The worst part was how he scoffed and laughed absolutely not when I asked if he had any cars within my budget. I was very disheartened and have sighed up for emotional stability counselling. Also when I politely asked if he potentially sold any bikes, as apparently I'm too poor to afford one of their cars, I was sworn at and he hung up on me as if my life wasn't important anymore, well tell him to pull up. Adam Smith, A.K.A Smithy Boi out ( I'm being serious pull up).

Bought a Mazda 5 2.0D MPV from ASL last April (2015) under the manager's recommendation, after telling him we needed a spacious family car, mostly to be used for local (school etc.) runs, plus the very occasional long haul trip to visit family. Only 1 key with the car on delivery. Maiden voyage to Wales and the DPF light came on almost immediately. Knackered or missing suspension bushes, causing metal-on-metal creaking. Severe wheel balance issues, causing disconcerting steering wheel wobble at motorway speed. Nail in a tyre, forcing a replacement at our cost - is it inconceivable that it could be missed in an MOT or could have been picked up on the way from the MOT station to ASL afterwards? Unusable rear door lock. Missing sat nav and cruise control as they'd explicitly advertised and did not make any attempt to deviate from. Later on: flashing DPF (return to Mazda) light came on, permanently this time, despite the very recent long run to Wales. While waiting to take it back we did more research and discovered the implementation in these earlier DPF Mazdas makes them notoriously troublesome when used for **repeat** short journey use, with related, wider industry reports about it plentiful in the media - try searching for DPFs on the AA website for example. Shocked at all the issues after being assured it had just had a 'full, multi-point safety check', service and MOT, and after they'd delayed a few days, and about a week following purchase, we returned it ASAP and asked for a refund. Instead of refunding, as is clearly our right for their various breaches of contract, ASL decided, without our permission, that they'd attempt repairs for some of the issues we'd reported instead, and that would be the end of it. The car's been with them ever since, as it will never match the advertised spec and if we use the car as we intended, give us no end of expense with DPF related problems and extra servicing. They've tried to coax us to re-accept the car, pressurising us in to collecting it by claiming to have put it in storage and saying that the bill, payable by us prior to collection, is accumulating at £18/day + VAT. That was almost a year ago now. I'll let you guess the maths… ASL throw Checkatrade at you from start to finish… I've obviously lost faith there now too as we simply cannot trust the reviews are all genuine. I really am a reasonable guy, who's simply looking out for safety and fair finances for my young family. We have since discovered other locals that claim to have suffered at their hands too - oh and a little digging into 'A B Car Sales Chobham', reviews in particular, makes for interesting reading. I'm not sure this leopard has changed its spots completely. If it's unreasonable to expect to be able to promptly return and get your money back on something you buy which is unsafe, unsuitable for the purpose you make very clear to the salesman, and doesn't match the description, then we don't know where we got the law so wrong. It's our experience that ASL don't care for the law one bit, even when it's spelled out to them. As ASL have offered no reasonable option and appear to have no ADR process, or be registered with any common industry regulatory bodies (e.g. Motorcodes) like most reputable traders, we've been forced to seek legal advice and so are now on the Small Claims track. Please, don't be afraid to look past smoke and mirrors. ASL charge a fee to use a credit card so we avoided it. Oh, how I regret using a debit card now!! as these cards won't give you the protection from these guys you might need if they decide to supply creatively produced sales invoice 'copies' for the car you bought, with someone else's signature on it, in order to support their appeal of your otherwise successfully submitted Chargeback request. Yes ASL, we noticed. Go ahead ASL, keep telling everyone that I'm not 'representing the facts correctly'. I'm more that happy for readers to make up their own mind.
