Was looking for a new unique dinner option in town and after reading reviews here - decided to try Southampton Thai. Eva was a great hostess & server. Her mom is an amazing cook! Authentic, tasty and delicious! We started with Thai Spring Rolls and enjoyed Ginger Stir Fry w Chicken and Red Curry w Shrimp for main courses. Highly recommend. So glad we’ve found a new special place here in Southampton!
It's a nice treat to get authentic Thai food in South Hampton! It's a relax environment, the patio is beautifully surrounded by flowers. Service is great and friendly. I forgot to take photos before we started to eat, so no photo proof of chicken cold rolls! It was very good. We ordered Pad Thai and Cashew Nut chicken with Jasmine rice. Can't wait till next time!
All three of us ordered the Spicy Noodle, two of them with shrimp and one chicken. We had the server make it just a bit more spicy than typically served as we mentioned we like spicy. Just phenomenal. I have travelled the world for the past 23 years for work and have eaten at MANY Thai restaurants including in Thailand. This was very authentic and I found out why at the end of the meal. The chef and mother of our server is from Thailand! Fantastic experience cannot wait to go back when we are in the area again
We ordered take out and several dishes to share amongst our family. Food was piping hot and fresh. Our meals included noodle and rice dishes with chicken, shrimp and some vegetarian. Won Ton Soup too. All was delicious. The banana fritters were a great sweet treat. Small road side patio was available to enjoy summer evenings and very limited seating area within the restaurant. Staff were very friendly. Food was ready right on time.
We were there for lunch. We ordered chicken pad thai, fried rice, general tao chicken, chicken satay and shrimp crackers. I guess they do not have any other sauce other than peanut as both satay and crackers were served with it. Vegetables in the curry and fried rice were hardly cooked. Everything lacked spice and flavour. One of the sauces was overpowering everything. Overall, they were on the salty side. They were clearly overwhelmed. Compared to the price, the food and overall experience could have been much better.
I eat light food, the taste is a bit strong for me, the taste is very authentic, especially the spring rolls are a must try.Food: 5/5
Lovely staff friendly service authentic Thai spring rolls. Last night we got takeout. I am very familiar with Thai cuisine. I cook it at home and I’ve ordered in other resturants. The flvours were strange and I could not identify any thing as being authentically Thai. We ordered Massaman curry I could not taste coconut milk sauce was very thin and oily. There was no flavour of kaffir lime leaves cilantro galangal coriander or any of the things that one would normally taste in a red curry paste. We ordered mango salad which was a very generous portion, lots of crushed peanuts but no lime or fish sauce or chilli flakes. The basil chicken there was no Thai basil maybe dried Italian I could not tell.
Coming from Toronto, I did not have high expectations for this restaurant but I was pleasantly surprised. Service was absolutely impeccable; prompt and attentive. The food was incredible, both fresh and authentic. I've eaten at many Thai restaurants and this little gem would rank in the top tier of my list. The atmosphere was intimate and inviting, well curated and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone visiting the area. My menu recommendations: Wrapped Shrimp, Beef Salad, Grilled Beef, Chicken Satay, Chu Chee Fish.
My wife and I stopped at Southhampton Thai Cuisine on our way home from a long road trip. There were people seated outside and inside with several tables still open both indoors and out. The sign on the door said that they were open until 8PM Sun and we arrived at 7:10PM. Looking forward to having a meal, we entered and were told by staff that they were full for the evening. Very disappointing experience and totally unaccommodating. Horrible experience. I would highly recommend changing the hours on your sign if you are not willing to accept customers 45 mins before your posted closing hours.
The quality of the food here rivals any Thai food we have had anywhere.... And we love Thai dishes. The flavor of each dish was just perfect. The spices, crispy vegetables, light yet flavorful sauces and perfectly prepared seafood, poultry and tofu were the main attractions rather than heavy, salty, sauces and overly battered, fried coatings. The presentation was also very appealing. Chu Chuee was a new dish for us and it was divine. We live in MI and I will make it my mission to find a restaurant that prepares it. We ordered shrimp though the fish sounded amazing too. It had just a hint of kick which was balanced by the coconut milk. I also really enjoyed the light Coconut soup with white mushrooms, Napa, cauliflower, broccoli, tofu and cilantro. So healthy and bursting with flavor. We were the only ones present late afternoon on a Saturday though the restaurant had a steady flow of Carey out orders. Our server was so friendly and helpful. Charming personality. Her mother is the chef; kiddos to them both for a job well done. The ambience is very warm and inviting. The tab was on par with what we usually spend for a good quality dinner. Southampton Thai Cuisine is such a refreshing choice among the many bar-comfort food restaurants that dot the coastal towns of Lake Huron.
