Really nice place for an intimate concert. We've been here last week to a great concert of a romanian band. The concert was amazing and Ioved the no seating plan of the club so everybody could dance, we will visit again when we'll have the opportunity.
I was not attending as a guest but working as a Visual Operator for Wolfgang Flür's show at 229. Everything was well-organized, and from what I could observe from the stage, the guests had a very good evening. Many thanks to the team at 229.
I had the chance to see Orchestra Mambo International at 229 The Venue and I had an amazing time! The venue is really nice, simple, tidy and functional. The staff is polite and efficient, the toilets clean, and the drinks affordable - a pint of beer was £6.90 that is a good price for a club in central London. The best part is the sound system - very powerful, good and clear - and the dancefloor - spacious and well ventilated. I will go again for sure. Thank you!
Hey, visited this venue recently, too keep it short....its a lovely place small lookin, clear clean tidy polite helps koool venue went for band I love....an very impressed....for location, great prices...an very helpful staff good to see alternative style aswell.... Have some issues with mobility, an had staff jumpin o board to give assistance in a very polite calm manner...was happily surprised.. keep rockin....
This place, which we found difficult to locate on the map and stated that it was open until late on google, somehow found the place that passed as 229 London, but we couldn't find either the door or the place, and then when a staff member opened the door, although we could see that it was full and open, it closed to us and closed the door again to our face, it can't be so ridiculous
Drinks are really expensive but I suppose its London so everything is, only 2 toilets for the ladies so luckily wasn't too packed or could have been a problem. Great little venue though.
Awesome, I have to give a shout out to the staff, they brilliant, and a special shout out to Ben Sutherland, he made sure I had what I needed. I was in a wheelchair for the gig thanks to a previous operation. Ben and his staff made sure I was given access to a lift and taken in via a different access point. The club itself is awesome, great acoustics for the bands. 229 The Venue is a great venue if your looking for somewhere to go, im looking forward to going back in December for the "Decapitated" gig
Great night, great bands, definitely a convert to the Ryders and the Autumn Saints. The only issue is the outrageous drinks' prices. If the 100 can get it right why can't the 229? £7.20 for a bottle of Doom is frankly ridiculous and a rip off. PS There are two rooms/stages, one, the one I've reviewed, is a large hall with the stage at about five to six feet high; the other is a much smaller room with the stage a foot or so high. Both have their own bars. - Now no Dom Bar available even at the rip off prices. Great sets from Squire and Secret Affair.
Great venue for live music. Very expensive drinks, but that's typical London. I went to an event promoting young rock musicians from around the world
As a venue 229 was great. It was well run. The ticket process was easy. The location is great as it's right next to Great Portland Street Station and multiple bus routes. The sound system was loud. There are two rooms with the larger one having a big stage. There are two bars and a cloakroom. Plenty of staff and security. Bar was reasonably priced and service was quick and friendly. The staff were super friendly and helpful. It was a good place to see the New Year in.
