Totally disappointed with the overall experience. Third time I visit the Cafe and it will be my last. This time, I had the tiniest lentil soup with a sandwich bread toast on the side and paid £5 for it. The service, the atmosphere and the place are ok, but the food, the coffee and the pastries need to be much better, especially with those prices.
A lovely place to come in and warm up from the cold! We had some hot drinks and cake, and everything was very tasty and reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and the decor was pretty, with very comfy seats!
Lovely little cafe with fab staff and excellent coffee and food at reasonable cost..Food: 4/5
A LOVELY little eaterie food was very good and service was first class .
Would like to thank the waitress for giving my mum and I a good laugh really, the way we were spoken to left us speechless and we could do nothing but laugh about it!. We took a seat and shortly after, decided to leave as we didn’t feel hopeful about the rest of the experience following being spoken to as if we were causing a huge inconvenience - simply by asking if there was a table for 2.
Terrible experience - not child friendly. We were a party of 5 adults and one 2 year old. We purchased 5 hot drinks and 2 cakes for £18.40. Like many toddlers the little one can be a fussy eater so we brought our own snack for her. When the waitress brought the cakes she seemed to take exception to the fact we hadn’t ordered one for the 2 year old and asked if we definitely didn’t want to order a drink for her. We declined and she departed. Moments later a woman who I assume was the manager storms through and says that it’s not acceptable that the toddler was eating her own food that hadn’t been purchased from them but that she would “let her off this time”. We were all quite shocked that a woman would talk so aggressively about a 2 year old little girl and challenged her pointing out that it seemed a ridiculous stance to take. Her response was “well you wouldn’t go somewhere else and bring your own sandwiches” and stood by this perspective despite us pointing out we were a group of 5 adults and none of us were eating or drinking anything from elsewhere neither had we brought any sandwiches. Actually, I have been to many restaurants/cafes who have no objection to toddlers eating their own food and have been in the company of friends who have also brought their own food for their toddlers, and never have I ever had anyone come and raise their voice and tell us it was unacceptable. Will never return; the food and drinks were at best average anyway. The party next to us seemed to face no interruption when feeding their dog their own snacks.
We stopped for a cuppa and latte and cake and it was lovely, service was top notch, thank ladies
Ok, arrived at Zanzibar in North Berwick full of good expectations, but it was one of those, where it didn't quite happen... Ordered a Full English Breakfast, with coffee, and specifically asked that the Black Pudding not my favourite menu item be removed. A simple request, which was noted. And of course, there it was, on my plate as star of the show. Adding to this the baked beans were cold, as was the bacon and the mushrooms. The coffee was good, very good in fact. And finally, my bill had to be redone as it was not accurate at all...
Been there twice for a coffee/pastry/sandwich. Lovely staff, accessible restaurant and baby changing facilities available. Quite central in North Berwick as well
Really good latte, and reasonable price at £3.20 for large. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff.Food: 5/5
