Legit Japanese place owned by a Japanese family with proper atmosphere and taste. Food is exactly same, nice and well-organized as Izakayas in Japan. But don't expect too much as it is just a moderate place. You have to order more than 20£ per person so enjoy different dish. Service is also quite nice except for the old lady who is always bit rude.
This place is a little gem in the Fitzroy area. Very unique atmosphere with great authentic Japanese cuisine, which is not only sushi! The tofu slowly cooked under a flame until it solidifies is amazing. The staff is also very helpful in choosing what to pick, and which sake, which by the way is great! Definitely recommended but do reserve a table!
Delicious, authentic Japanese food near Goodge Street. Cold soba with tempura, seabass sashimi with ponzu sauce, deep fried oysters amazing, homemade tofu with bonito flakes, eel unagi rice, and chicken yakitori cooked at the bar. Mingle with the Japanese businessmen and give it a try.
Wow - an authentic Japanese restaurant in London with affordable prices!! The chef is so awesome... cooking on flame right in front of you at the bar ... asking about your meal... the sushi is correctly named.... it's what we have become to know as nigri.... so if you want sushi roll ask for unimaki... everything is beautifully bite sized and expertly prepared. Such a rare gem. It is a little rustic ... worn... even dank....but I hope it stays this way as it dissuades the suited and booted glam types. Thier range of saki is equally amazing. Highly recommend a visit.
Came here at late night on Wednesday and it was still very busy. The waiter was very friendly and nice 5-star for that waiter. Best service I would say, except the old lady cashier who looks angry without any reason. Come on, I didn't owe her any money. Anyway, I ordered salmon rice ball, pork belly, kimchi don, sesame ice cream, and Kirin beer, and they are all delicious and authentic. I spent £30 for them, which is moderate if you compare it to other lzakayas.
While the interior is quite old and shabby, sushi’s are quite eatable. Lots of Japanese here which says that the cuisine is indeed traditional. Salmon and avocado roll and teriyaki salmon were nice, as well as the buckwheat noodles which turned out to be a soup in fact
Highly recommend this Japanese restaurant in central London. Close to Goodge Street station, walking distance to oxford street, convenient. Food is amazing. We had Japanese grill, it’s a set, well marinaded. And they have some authentic Japanese dishes, like rice soup. Decent price as well.
Authentic Japanese restaurant filled with "locals". Food is great as is the service. Been a few times and never been disappointed. Highly recommended. Review update: Excited about going there with my in laws, I have to say that the service has been awful.. The waitress was rude and we sadly didn't feel welcomed. Probably won't be back any time soon.
Service can be a little slow but the food is very authentic and tastes delicious. My favourite is the omelette with pork and onion. You can also cook your own tofu if you like the silk texture. Try eating at the bar if you fancy having a Japanese street food experience. The Yakitori grilled skewered food menu is not extensive but most of them are quite tasty.
The food was average, but much better than the service. The restaurant experience was obviously geared towards persons from Japan and/or speakers of Japanese. The waitress took over 15 minutes to come by for a drink order, brought me a shot glass of water and a full glass for my beer, and addressed me in Japanese multiple times, fully knowing I am not a speaker of Japanese. If you are a tourist, not from Japan, and do not speak Japanese, this is the worse culinary choice you could make.
