I took my grand daughters aged 11/8 yrs of age for a sushi treat . We all love the Japanese’ street food and the restaurants . Yo sushi bar if more attractive as it is in Selfridges which Is on the famous Oxford Street. The Yo bar was buzzing @ lunchtime . We had a 10 minutes wait . The high chairs with the view of the conveyor belt and the staff serving the platters is interesting . The digital ordering was fun for all with contactless payment . The service was slow but the food was fresh and appealing . As usual everyone enjoyed the fries. The price reflected was reasonable . I would definitely visit again and recommend the bar to all especially to the shoppers in Selfridges .
Incredible selection of Asian delights, premium price but dined in a central London location. The app ordering, conveyer belt delivery system and watching the chefs prepare the fresh food make a novel meal experience. Look forward to trying other locations. On the occasion I dined unfortunately the conveyor belt wasn’t used to it’s potential the chefs handed the food directly to me which reduced my expectation of the full experience.
I have been coming here since it opened and it was always decent and could find something to eat and enjoy. My last visit was a disaster cold rolls and unpleasant atmosphere, unclean and under staffed had to send food back and ask for a refund as it's all pay in advance. Basically the food is prepared in advance and put in the fridge to be served maybe hours or a day later, the rice was overcooked. Never again till maybe they improve.
Food is average, the things that disappointed me the most is the lack of attentive customer service which I find quite common in UK, as you can see in the pic, I asked for some bowls to eat shared dishes and to my surprise, they brought out massive dirty bowls that still had the stain of left over food . They don’t understand that at Japanese restaurant they don’t use massive bowls like that, and also the cooks are mostly Indian whom I don’t think have much understanding about Japanese food . We ordered 6 dishes and they brought out 5 dishes and when I asked for the missing one; they brought out the wrong dish. Quite disappointing Japanese dining experience in UK. Wouldn’t recommend anyone for this.
We're great fans of Yo! Sushi and usually visit either the Cambridge or Milton Keynes branches. We were in London so tried this branch after an unsuccessful attempt at Bond Street - See the separate review We were so glad to see the belt working again! Since Covid neither of the branches near us have theirs working and you still have to order everything and the belt delivers it. The belt is totally what makes the experience and always gets us to try something new. Staff were great, we were quickly seated and service was attentive. The hot dishes we ordered came quickly and with a smile from the chef. Would recommend to anyone.
They were busy and we waited to be sited but as soon as someone left they clean is quickly and gave us a sits. Sushi was fresh and nice, teriyaki chicken and shrimps was good to. We had a good time. Just wish there was wider choice in the menu.
No Tempura. In fact no hot food. Nothing. Just salmon, salmon & salmon. Also the worst sushi selection anywhere. Left hungry. If you want a variety of Japanese food DONT COME HERE!
You sushi selfriedges has always been one of my favourite out of all the other Yo sushi as they had the best viarity and fresh fish. I use to go there regularly on fridays but since last year they have really gone down in quality and service but I am only writing this now because today was probably the worse experience and non existence service. To put it simply it was a shambles everyone was blaming the other person. I waited for 10 min for ginger and wasabi after asking the waiter 2 times. Everyone was frustrated as it was getting busier with no staff and the only person there seems really not bothered. Actually there was another person who I believe could have been a manager sitting on her laptop on one of stools and didn't even look to check how busy her team was or try to help. The only person who seemed quite worried and really tried to help was the lovely lady prepping the sushies who was doing 100 things at the same time. Sorry about the long review but it is just such a shame to see such a drop in a business and their service specially withing a well known and prestige department store.
I enjoyed my experience at this place, it was my first time using the conveyer belt system. I would have given 5 stars but most of the food I ordered arrived through a person and not through the conveyer belt system. I would prefer the conveyer belt system as that is the whole quirk of the restaurant.
Visited on a Saturday. Thought might need takeaway.. Butt pleasantly surprised a stools for two. Had the festive JFC in a box... spicey fries n crispy crunchy chicken. N coleslaw. And two dishes of conveyor sushi... Prawn Star.... excellent. Two green teas .. Service included £27 . Yummmmy.
