Ynyslas National Nature Reserve is a great place to explore. The car park fee was not at all expensive for a lovely day out. There is a vast area to park on the flat sand, just watch out for some bumpy areas re the bottom of your car! It is worth checking the tide times or asking when paying the car park fees. Just in case the tides come in earlier than expected. Just a warning for swimmers. Whilst the sea looks great it is not a place to go swimming, this is due to the strong currents around the estuary. Near to the flat sand is a visitor centre, this is fantastic place to visit for snacks, drinks and toilets. It primary role is to provide a wealth of information. Interestingly they have a handwritten log of sightings of rare animals and their approximate locations. I noticed written a few days earlier was the sighting of an adder, never seeing one before I was hoping to tick that box, but since they are shy creatures it was not meant to be on my visit. However, I did see a number of sandpipers dashing along the coastline and what I believe was a Gatekeeper butterfly, judge for yourself as I have attached some photos. There is an enormous amount of wildlife present in and around the area, its just a question of how long have you got to look for it? There is a great area of Sand dunes, some are very high, they actually conceal the visitor centre from many angles. Whilst there are a number of footpaths which makes it easier to walk the sand dunes can prove difficult and walking between them can become disorientating. The reserve have set out a number of walks around the reserve, some short and others quite long with signposts to assist. Note: the visitor centre has a few gifts, what was appealing for me was the small fluffy birds, that when squeezed made realistic bird noises, these were great holiday gifts for my grandchildren, who absolutely adored them.
A truly spectacular wide open sandy beach that just stretches on and on and on for miles. It's so vast that even on a warm summer day you can pretty much have the place to yourself. The car park is just £3 all day but there is a bit of a trek across the dunes which is pretty awesome in itself to be fair. There's also a visitor centre with a shop and lovely clean toilets
It was really novel parking on the beach. You walk to the ship to pay your £3. The ship also had a small cafe so good to shelter in of the weather suddenly turns. The beach is really pretty with loads of good photo opportunities and the dunes tall enough to tire the kids out in. The only issue we had was there was a lot of dog poo on the beach which was a real shame. Restrooms: Great public toilets
Beauty spot of Wales with great dunes, long beach and great views. The area is so large that it is hard to fill it with people. Silence just waves sounds and the beauty of nature around. Kids and dog will love this place.
Absokurwly beautiful natural beach with fantastic dunes and in a conservation area. Great parking and just £3 for the day. Visitor centre with toilets and shop selling food and drinks. A must visit if you're nearby or not!Visited onWeekendWait timeUp to 10 minReservation recommendedNo
Lovely place. We went in February 2022 to introduce the dog to the beach for the first time. We parked on the nature reserve. Guy on reception was very friendly and helpful and chatted away to us. A lovely day out
Ynyslas has to be one of the most beautiful beaches in Ceredigion. Soft sand, great shells and awesome dunes. Visitor centre is informative and has a few snacks available. Parking is on the beach so keep an eye on the tide information when you park!Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo

I love it here, return every year. So peaceful and a lovely walk. Time it right and this location to watch the sunset is beautiful
While on our holiday in Wales, we came across this great Dyfi nature reserve. There are four walking trails around Dyfi nature reserve: 1. The Dune Walk about 1.25 miles. 2. The Ynyslas Walk about 2.5 miles. 3. The Cors Fochno Walk. This is a circular boardwalk over the bog from the Cors Fochno parking area. Unfortunayely, dogs are not allowed on the boardwalk. And also the Wales Coast Path, which runs around the edge of Cors Fochno between Borth and Tre Tallesin. Ynyslas dunes are remarkable with some rare plants, wild flowers, insects and birds. You can see dolphins in the shimmering in the sun sea. Information centre open daily between 9am to 5pm only from Easter until the end of September. The toilets are open from 9am until dusk from Easter until the end of September only too. The car park on the beach is very specious and will cost you £2/day during season. You can spend whole day there because place is truly amazing!
