Very convenient for ranging out to the hills via bus. No on-site parking but free parking is in back roads not far away. The staff here are very energetic and not afraid to take the initiative to make your visit more pleasant. The place is kept to a good standard of cleanliness and the rooms are OK.
Great place this. Made better by universally friendly and helpful staff. I stayed for 3 nights. Did a mix of self catering and buying food/breakfast in the cafe. Room was basic but fine. Communal showers and toilet always clean and available. Bike store was safe and dry. Thoroughly enjoyed it.Rooms: 4/5
Very militant run place, can't check in without the group leader, breakfast shuts promptly at 9am even on a bank holiday, staff following tick boxes and no flexibility. Lots of stairs. Bar snacks quick and simple, didn't try the main menu. Bar friendly and good selection of hot and cold drinks. Communal kitchen large, clean, well managed with food labels and plenty of tables but also very sparse with no 'left over' communal food cupboard such as tea, salt, pepper or sugar. You have to bring your own everything to cook. Modern and thus lacking in rustic charm. Bedrooms nicely renovated and did the job, bathrooms clean and efficient, but no towels or toiletries in ensuite room. Metal bed frames solid but somehow still noisy. A good place to stay as a family and well located close to town and near a good park, but not particularly good value for a hostel environment and no special touches or atmosphere, except in their café. The local info, walks, maps very good. Rooms: well renovated, lamp and charging socket in the bed a nice touch. Nothing in the room except a bed, so bags dumped on the floors. Variable pricing structure means the rooms aren't particularly good value in high season and don't have any extra touches. Nearby activities: close to town, great park nearby and on the door step of great hikes and the lakes. Safety: Key card access to each floor and rooms and fire doors effective, seems very safe. Food & drinks: cafe welcoming and bar well stocked. Cafe menu not particularly great toastie was quite limp and soggy.
Used to stay here decades ago, but now call in when in Keswick as I live locally. Brilliant! The staff are always polite and helpful and there is plenty of room. Dog friendly cafe. Some of the comfy seats need some tlc.Service: 5/5
Only went for breakfast but it was pretty much all you could eat with unlimited coffee, and dog friendly to boot but there again so is most of Keswick bar the Weatherspoon's .Location: 5/5
Best youth hostel we've stayed in for ages. Clean, very well equipped rooms and self catering facilities, great bar/cafe and a wonderful location.Rooms: 5/5
First time staying at a YHA ever. Was so surprised how amazing and affordable it was. The staff was just absolutely warm and friendly and made this vacation so successful for me. Bus station nearby as well.Rooms: 5/5
We had a room for 3 with an ensuite. The surprise was a balcony overlooking yhe river and park. Absolutely made our stay. Beautiful location. No parking. Street parking can be a bit of a walk, 2 hours available nearby free with a disk see reception. Lovely bar area at the entrance for a beer or coffee. Great self catering kitchen. Most important of all - super friendly staff at check in - A breath of fresh air!! Nearby activities: Walk up lattrigg or skiddaw both close by. Walkability: Access is down outdoor steps along a narrow river veranda to the door. No accessibile for those that strugfle with steps i imagine. Noteworthy details: No better location in Keswick for the cost.
First off I must say this hostel is located in an idyllic scene. Surrounded by beautiful mountains and a quaint town. Although this hostel was used as simply a place to sleep and party when not out exploring the countryside I was not disappointed by the comfort it brought after a long day hiking up the mountain. upon the mountain i sat looking into the dark night sky, questioning the meaning of life, who am , what is my significance if any, is a life worth living if you live it alone, should i live for someone else or just myself. without purpose life is pointless. Shrek was nothign without fiona, tom is is just a house cat if he does not have jerry in his life to chase. i am a tom cat without a mouse- alone. the night sky only gets darker and tears roll down my face. I go to lean on a friends shoulder as i weep, but no one is there so i just fall down the hill and break three ribs. it does not hurt. i feel nothign anymore. if one has endured through unbelieveable pain are they even capable of being hurt anymore. i think not. once youve fallen down the well youre at the bottom- you cant fall any further-youre already dead. But it mattters not what an individual thinks if no one cares.as a planet we are ntohing butr a speck in space, within that speck i am one in 8 billion. I speck of a speck, alone, sinking into the wet keswick soil wishing it wouild consiume me forever. The local CO-OP sells a lovely cheap Spanish Red Wine called 'Spanish Red Wine' 5/5 would recommend to all, would defo go again
Recently stayed at YHA Keswick for 3 nights. I am amazed by this youth hostel, the staff were all friendly and welcoming, and were very hard working. The cooked breakfasts tasted great, with decent coffee. Nice bar area to plan the next days walk with two beers on tap and one on cask. Our room was for 3 adults, a bunk and a single, quite small but it's only used for sleeping. The communal toilets and showers were always clean and available. Would 100% stay here again when visiting Keswick. Rooms: Quite small, but perfectly functional. Nearby activities: Plenty of amazing walks. Food & drinks: Cooked breakfast was tasty and filling, with GF option. Coffee and pastries were also nice and fresh.
