This YHA is just lovely. It’s hidden up behind the farm. A long winding road takes to it. Rooms are spotless as are the facilities. The staff are absolutely fantastic, friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. Food is top notch. Portions are great and food is cooked fresh to order in their restaurant. If we are in the peaks for a few days this is our go to place to stop. It’s close to everything we want to explore and far enough away from people to be alone if you want that to. Lounge is warm friendly and has a great view. Rooms: Clean, comfortable and warm. It’s a place to sleep and relax after a long day wandering Nearby activities: Yha offers lots of activities and there are more in Edale and Castleton down the road. Walkability: Perfect location for walking in the peaks. Food & drinks: Food is good and reasonable prices. Don’t need to go anywhere if unless you want to.
This accommodation is in a great location for easy access to hiking trails and other outdoor activities. Staff were very helpful and friendly, they couldn’t do enough for you. Rooms and showers were clean. When we went, it was a rather hot day, and I couldn’t get much cold water from the showers and the rooms were quite warm. However, our stay was enjoyable and left such a good impression on me that I wrote a review!
Beautiful forest scenery and amazing vibes by the people staying there. Came with my family for a night but I'd definitely come back next time with my friends for the activities around the areaRooms: 4/5
Stayed here one night to break the distance on my run from Stockport to Sheffield. Amazing hostel, spotlessly clean with helpful, friendly staff. The self-catering kitchens are the best I've ever seen, the drying room coped easily with my sodden kit and the hostel breakfast was delicious and great value. Combined with some lovely chats with the other guests, it was a fabulous stay for a solo traveller. Thanks all!
Lovely experience, used Youth hostel as part of a group booking wonderful place staff friendly and Lovely meal. Good Pub is in walking distance too. Ideal location for the Mam Tor Kinder walks. Rooms: Lovely dorms Nearby activities: Mam Tor Kinder circular hike Safety: Secure rooms Walkability: Walking distance to a pub Food & drinks: Meals that were provided were nice Noteworthy details: I believe this is also an activity centre although did not use facilities myself. I was very impressed with my experience here. Does what it says on the tin. Nice clean rooms, with friendly fellow guests and friendly/ helpful staff shoutout to Cieran on reception Lots of families, with young children, couples, solo people etc of all ages. Really wholesome vibes. We got the train to Edale station, which is a roughly 30 min easy walk, so accessible without a car. Importantly also very reasonably priced, and an absolutely stellar location in spitting distance of any number of excellent hills, hikes and views. Thanks for a fantastic stay over the Easter weekend. You can just see the hostel poking out of the trees in my image, beautiful whatever the weather!
Anyone looking to explore the kinder Scout Plateau towards the East side of it should look no further. This place is positioned perfectly with the public foot path being right behind the building and traveling directly up towards it. From there you can explore the whole Plateau and it's really a great place with great views. Rooms: The shared rooms are large, the beds are a little stiff but okay if you are like that, there are multiple charge points and each bed even has its own little lamp and shelf for bits like your glasses and phone. Walkability: There are plenty of places you can walk to and from, Suck as Castletown, Edale which has great pubs and the Kinder Scout Plateau. Food & drinks: I personally was surprised by the quality of the food. It was no joke and If you are looking to get food, with having to travel to eat here. I myself had Pie, mash and pea's with a side of Sidewinder chips and it was very yummy and a great price. I late tried the loaded nachos and they sure where loaded. The ciders stocked here are also pretty good. Noteworthy details: Things to note - You cannot bring your own alcohol. There is plenty here to buy anyway. Even though you get a key to lock the room, if you are in a shared room, then other people may leave it open so be careful with your stuff. this is something we did not have a problem with but something to note.
This YHA hotel boasts a fantastic location. Mam Tor is just across the valley, offering easy walking access and stunning views. Most attractions are a mere 10-15 minutes' drive away. The rooms are clean, as expected, though toilets are limited per building. I was fortunate enough to experience snow during my stay, adding to the charm. The food is delicious too. However, for those reliant on tech, be aware that WiFi is only available, and mobile network coverage O2 is limited to the nearest high point. I'd like to extend special thanks to Alastair, Lola, and Elle. Also, a shoutout to the gentleman from the kitchen who served me the delightful lasagna and margarita pizza, whose name I unfortunately forgot.
I went here for a residential at my school. And if you love the peat districts and nature this place is for you! The Toilets aren't the best in the girls but there is lots of activities to do there like canoeing, caving, jumping of crates with a harness on, Fire lightning and much more!Rooms: 3/5
Clean, warm room with good facilities in great location. Pity about the 90 steps to the cottage but I suppose it's all about the exerciseRooms: 5/5
