Story

If you want to get away from it all for an outdoor activity break, YHA Dartmoor is the perfect spot. The hostel is surrounded by the open moorland and forest of Dartmoor National Park, with access to a network of off-road routes for walking and cycling holidays - it’s a comfortable, child-friendly, rural retreat and provides a perfect base for family rambles. The famous Dartmoor ponies often pay us a visit from the open moorland – always a favourite with visiting children.

We loved the place in the middle of dartmoor, we stayed for 4 nights. Very clean place, hiking trails starting right in front, wild ponies eating grass next to parking :- Accommodation is pretty basic, but worth the price. Friendly staff. Wifi was not working properly, no reception for phone -> we enjoyed the digital detox. Rooms: Very clean. Nearby activities: Hiking
An ideal.location to take a breath of fresh air. The lovely lady host was one the most delightful.people I've met. She pretty much went above and beyond to answer all our questions. She was so kind and helped us sort a place to watch our family projector , lent us a heater and an HDMI lead. Brekki was yummy and plentiful. The property was quirky and there was space to chill.out of needed. Facilities such the self service kitchen and sitting room were clean and tidy. Our room was clean and tidy . Only thing that I'd say would have made our stay even better would have been to be closer to the bathroom. When you have 4 children it's helpful to be closer. Ideally a ground floor bedroom works better when you have a pram, but the lovely host said I could just leave it under the stairs which I did. Beds were comfy and duvets huge and fluffy. I slept very well . We will definitely come back again. The host deserves a gold star for her amazing patience, helpfulness and cheery disposition. Thankyou Nearby activities: A stunning river in the forest about 10 mins walk. All the kids decided to get in which was hilarious. The views were amazing
We rented the whole place out and it was perfect for a weekend out on the moors with a group. The place was perfect for cooking, eating and socialising in between trips out during the day, which it's ideally located for being near some of my favorite places on Dartmoor.Rooms: 5/5
Stayed here for 1 night in August 2021 on our way to see friends down in Cornwall and it was lovely. The views and photos you can get from this place are sick. Lovely walk nearby. The hostel itself had a nice communal kitchen and living room with comfy beds. Wish to come here again. Plus free WiFi
Had a lovely stay here over the Easter break with a few friends. The drying room was great allowing us to go out the next day in dry waterproof which we needed. Breakfast was well worth the extra cost. Staff were lovely. Will definitely be back.
A group of us stayed here whilst on a cycling trip. The staff were amazing, we had a fantastic meal waiting for us and the bar was fully stocked. They cooked me a vegan meal which was amazing. The rooms were clean and showers hot! Overall a great stay and I would highly recommend 5*
Amazing place. Tucked away off the main road. Staff were brilliant and let us put our hammocks up in the carpark.Rooms: 5/5
Camped here and had a thoroughly excellent time - pizzas and beer in the evening and walking and swimming during the day. Friendly hosts. They just need to sort out the serious amount of sheep droppings in the camping field. I guess most people book rooms but still . . .
We loved this hostel, we received an amazing warm welcome from lovely people. The accommodation was comfortable and clean and the breakfast was excellent.Rooms: 5/5
